I never have, but I saw some videos on LARPing before, and I must say that I really want to experience it. The nerdgasms would be intense

Hrrm. Idk if the SCA counts, I don't really think it does.

That's as close as I'll get to LARP.

No the SCA does not count. There are no "role-playing rules" that they follow. SCA people just dress up in historic gear and party, A LOT. Man, I actually miss the SCA. Makes me want to go join up again.

LARPing can be fun ^^

mostly depends on the group you're with.

If you're interested just look around you're sure to find atleast one group within range that's on a decent level (i.e. not just a bunch of tents in a football field, I've heard of people doing it like that and just, no)

Just go ahead and join up as an NPC, they supply you with all the gear and stuff then, just so long as you play along "seriously".
seriously can mean alot of things. One guy dressed up like a werewolf for an encounter, but turns out all the PC's were too tired, so he just went there and did a dance routine instead.

Oh btw, something you might not expect. A remarkably high number of people there aren't nerds (atleast not as we know them) This one girl had never even heard of dnd and didn't play any other games and there was also this guy who was a pro tae-kwon-do fighter (not fair if you were up against him, he also did kendo).

If I had a shot at it, I would. Is anyone able to link me up to a group that operates in/around the Greater Seattle Area?

No, but I would if there were a crap ton of people doing it. Not that fantasy "I cast my ice spell" kind of LARPing but the kind where you get armies together and beat the piss out of each other or go one-on-one in a duel and beat the piss out of your opponent. Hmm, in hindsight, LARPing for me would just be an excuse to beat the crap out of someone and have them be okay with it and have a really good time. No foam weapons though, either wood or something sturdy that could take full on blows or I would not do it.

I do not LARP because I haven't decided I'm that nerdy yet. I know of an area in a local park where adolescents frequently gather to LARP and I am not anxious to be among them haha.

I used to make up my own "Role Plays" when I was about 7-12. It was fun, but I got too obsessed with the details in describing stuff to my friends, and not enough about what we were beating the shit out of.

Not technically, and it's a bit too nerdy for me to actually do. At least, seriously.

I don't know, it's just a bit too fanboy for me. My friend does it and I can't help but laugh at him, when he's all dressed up! It's the same as cosplay too. Just too much!

Nah, sorry.

I mean, cosplay is one thing. That's just like going to a big costume party for the weekend. But LARPing...all the LARPers I met were...obsessive. And they didn't give a very good image of the--experience.

i'm only into the foam-bat-fighting part. the RPing doesn't appeal to me nearly as much.

Funny, as most Larpers see cosplay as the "nerdyer" ^^

Not exactly LARP, but kinda like the Airsoft post earlier.

I do Military Simulations using IR Taggers (AKA laser skirmish).
We're given a mission objective at the start of the day, and are often given further objectives as the day continues.
Our group is lucky enough to have current and Ex-military personnel taking part, so the combat can seem pretty real at times - kinda like playing ArmA II - just with more exercise and less air-lifts.

It looks cool. Not any group in my area that I know of. I was thinking of attending one at a game convension before but ended up just playing in a 40k tourni instead. I use to do stuff like that when I was young with two of my friends. We'd take it it turns to create the story and be the NPCs. Longest lasted 2 years shortest was 3 hours. XD
