I recently finished watching all the episodes of Avatar: the Last Airbender and was genuinely surprised.

The voices were well cast, the writing excellent, and there were times you forgot that you were watching Nickelodeon. I thought it would be terrible because at first I thought it originated from Japan due to the eastern art style and language, but after a quick wiki surf I realized the opposite was true, it had originated in America, and featured some of the offbeat humor coupled with action and romance.

I definitely recommend it, but I'd like to hear the rest of the Escapist's thoughts on the subject.

Yeah, I think you get slapped by weeaboos if you call it an anime, but yes, for an American company, definitely.
I will be forever hooked on IFC but whatever

I really like Avatar, its a kids show but its still very entertaining.

My favourite character is Toph, just the sheer determination and attitude makes her awesome.

I was very, very disappointed by the final fight in the series (couldn't they have at least tried to make it entertaining?), but I do love the series. It may have many moments of childishness, but I find that is the beauty of it. It is a well-animated series that presents genuinely interesting ideas and executes them in such a way that it is intellectually friendly to all who give it a chance. I find that it very much resembles classic Disney movies in that it appeals to the younger side of our minds without alienating our older tastes.

Agreed. Book two took forever coming out, then suddenly book three is done. When I saw the ad for the last one I was like "They finished the other episodes?"

But I probably won't like it for long, what with the upcoming movie.

Oh God!

...Please don't remind me.

It's an awful idea that I just know that they'll screw up. I'm a fan of the Avatar series and I don't appreciate acutally good stuff on T.V. being raped like this.

. . . . Poor DBZ. . .My childhood memories...

And yet they still don't do it on Naruto. Unfair? Yes.

I liked it a good deal, but I still have to see the last book. I stopped watching Nick between the two books, as the down time between the two was when I realized that nothing good was on the network anymore. Is it worth it? Should I get the DVD, along with my planned purchase of a Firefly DVD (a great show that I missed entirely)?

I haven't seen the final episodes yet I'm like half way through the last season, but yay it was an excilent show and it is alright to call it an anime, It's a style and is not retricted to Japan (for creation that is).

There needs to be a poll option for OBSESSED. I love the show, I have all three seasons on DVD, and I'm trying my best to stay optimistic about the movie.

It's a cartoon that doesn't talk down to its audience. Best episode was when each character got their own short story.

Aside from a rushed ending, it was pretty good.

Now, if it had Master Chief...

That would be epic win.

I loved it. I was completely hooked by the season 1 finale, and was never disappointed in it afterwards.

Weeaboos? IFC? what do those things mean???
I don't know what IFC means, but as a general description, "weeaboo" is a term referring to idiots who like anime, used by idiots who hate anime.

It was entertaining. Very much so.
