I love long songs those ones that go on for 9 or so minutes. A lot of people dont like them get bored or what ever reason. I was wondering what you guys think. Also i was wondering what your favorite long song was

If they're written well enough to keep my interest that long, I will love them. Bad songs, obviously, will not keep me interested.
Favourite? Definitely A Little Piece of Heaven by Avenged Sevenfold. It could go on for half an hour and I'd still listen to it over and over and over and over and..over..and..over...again.

Depends. If they have a story to it, like an Opeth song, then sure. But if it's long just because they felt like repeating a chorus or something way too many time, then no, it's probably just a bad song in that case.
When a song goes on for 9 minutes, its probably because they keep repeating the same thing over and over again, that or the song is really slow. I do like A Little Piece of Heaven though.
As long as they have good lyrics and at least one decent guitar solo.

Most of the time I enjoy long songs because it allows you to really lose yourself in time and just go without needing to focus. Great for killing time at work.
Though, I must say this. As big a Led Zeppelin fan I am, I cannot listen to the 30 minute long version of Dazed and Confused. It stops being music for about 10 minutes in the middle, then gets back to good stuff for the end.

Some of the best songs I know are long songs.
Edguy - Theatre of Salvation around 14 mins I think
Blind Guardian - And then there was silence about the same, might be as much as 18
Kickass stuff. Especially And then there was silence. Man that song is so epic its an ordeal to listen through it, it makes me almost emotionally/physically drained, in a good way.

It depends on the song. I know plenty of long songs I could listen to endlessly and plenty I couldn't. I have to say, my favourite is probably the masterpiece that is Avenged Sevenfold's I Won't See You Tonight Part 1.
Its complicated.
Some styles of music work best at 10 minutes+, others can work with a 50 second song.
Techno or any other music of that style (house, etc.) NEEDS to be long.
Punk songs, I'm thinking Bad Religion here but any punk, sucks if it passes the 4 minute point.
Metal or instrumental music can go either way, depending on the mood/idea being conveyed.
Although, I really can't stand things like Pink Floyd or other art rock that seems to just be elongating a song that could have been good had it been shorter.
So I'll say that Indie and Art Rock should stick to 5 minute limits.

I want you to listen to this for me. It goes through a chorus twice I think, and it is a symphonic metal piece that is absolutely fantastic in my opinion. There is little to no repetition, and it keeps moving.
