I like reading, although I have been lazy of late. Reading is an escape from human beings. And, let's face it, human beings suck.

I like reading a lot, actually. It feeds my imagination, so to speak, and makes my mind active. However, books that really draw me in can be difficult to find for me.

Reading = advancing my literacy = better writing = ???? = PROFIT!

So, since I wanna be a writer, I like reading.

Seconded, with one edit: human beings generally suck.

So that got me wondering if you Escapists enjoy reading. Well...do ya?
You're going to get a disproportionate representation of those that enjoy reading in your poll because they're much more likely to click through because they're much more likely to care. I do like reading, we pass books around in our house and so there's always people to talk to about what's happening as well, but then we are a house of four Oxford graduates so we're not really representative.

I do love to read, but I can see how many people would dislike it. When your in school reading is assigned and becomes a chore. People don't like to be told they have to do something and im guessing this is what makes some people dislike reading.

I've been trying to make a profession out of my love for reading (currently doing a PhD on American literature, even though I am not even a native speaker), so, yes, I do love reading. I've bought many hundreds of books the past few years and I've read most of them.

But I find that books serve a different need, not really similar to video games. But this is slightly off topic, so I guess I won't elaborate.

I love to have a good read.
My fourteen wheel of time books would prove that to ya.
Im currently thinking of new books to read since the next wheel of time won't be released til the last book comes out til november. I'm also a avid fiction reader.
If I didn't read those books I would of never learnt any new vocabluary, its probably what made me good in English at school.

I'm trying to get into reading again, but I think the book I started reading just isn't my cup of tea.

Ah well, onto some more Huxley.

Kind of question is that? We're on a forum full of words that require some type of enjoyment out of interpreting. We're not required to check out the threads of this forum and gaze upon their endless possibilities through the English Language. But here we are. The results of the poll do not surprise me.

I'm near constantly reading. If not reading, writing. But mostly reading. I read more than I game, nowadays. Always fiction. I used to read a lot of history but that's tapered off a bit these days.

I usually reading at least three books on the go (currently 4) so yes, I read a lot. Probably for enjoyment more than gaining "power". I keep a book at work for the few breaks I don't sit around gabbing with co-workerer, keep one at my bedside table, one in the bathroom and one around the house. Once I finish one I replace it with another.

I read... a lot, I think. I have a 2x2 meter shelf in my room, whereas around 30% consists of books and about 60% is manga and 10% comic books... Is that a lot?

I don't like to read, thanks to all the books I have to read in college. Once I'm done with college I may pick up a novel or two every now and then but I'm just tired of reading all these damn text books.

Sometimes. Some books are enjoyable, but I find that I don't often care about the majority of them. The ones I do really like though, I'll finish up really quickly.

General rule for me though is this: I dislike fiction books. There are exceptions of course, but that's just in general.

I like non-fiction more most of the time.
Your name's blue! When did this happen?

OT: I probably enjoy reading far too much. Right now I'm reading Dune for the first time, and loving every minute of it.

i do but i only like a few genres. non-fiction and auto-biographies are boring and you learn more from the internet IMO.
