Also, RPGs just last for so long.
Thats a good thing, right?
It would depend on both the player and the reasons for the game being long.
True, and the game would have to be good enough to hold your attention throughout the whole game such as: Fall Out 3, and Oblivion which were both long and good.

I love RPG's and I'll pretty much play any RPG as long as the game itself isn't broken. Personally I don't mind trading gameplay for story. It's like reading a good book, but you get to play the action parts.

I love playing them, which makes me sad. It has been way too long since I've played an RPG. I think it's been a year, maybe even more.

Yah i'm definitly fond of making my own choices and seeing the outcome in different ways which also helped me make some really helpful decisions in real life.

Mass Effect, Dragon Age Origins, and Morrowind are the only game I have found that did RPG right, so yes I <3 THEM!

I like RPG's, but they, usually WRPG's, sometimes conflict with my habit of going for 100% completion that I picked up for JRPG's. It's sometimes difficult to finish the game before I get bored because I need to look at every rock to make sure the developers didn't hide Sword of One Thousand Manly Deaths in a well inhabited by a pixie that is more difficult to kill than the final boss.

I like rpgs, they aren't my favourite genre, but I like some of them, the problem is I don't like the fantasy settings most of them take.

if it has a very immersive plot and story drive with a decent setup of characterss, i garuntee i will love it and more then likely play it a few times, depends on how long it is though..ff12, it wont be years till i give you another go.

but if its just one big ass world with a level up system and quests that dont build on each other at all...then no, i probably will play it once and be done.

so yes i fucking love rpg's, but at the same time its a broad ass category so i can't say i love em all.

I don't completely dislike them, but I prefer action-RPG's, as turn-based combat ordinarily bores me... unless it's Pokémon.

On a more pressing note, why is that last face turned the wrong way? It's driving me insane!

I love good ones, but as a massive genre, it has its fair share (maybe more) of bad ones.
Yea it is a pretty big genre, that has many sub-genres, and every genre has its fair share of bad games

RPGs are my favorite, especially Japanese ones. They tend to have more of a focus on story than American ones (with the exception of Bioware and... well, pretty much just Bioware). Japanese RPGs tend to be about character and story, American RPGs tend to be about being a hero so you can... screw around and do random crap. Um... yeah. Sorry, but Final Fantasy VII over Fallout 3 any day.

Four out of my five favourite games are RPGs.

EDIT: I've seen some comments saying that people like RPGs, but only if they're done well. Doesn't that go without saying? Who would say that they like poorly done games of any genre?

Love them, more so the tolkinein kind, backed by a good main quest. Morrowind and dragon age are currently my two favorites, depending on weather i want first person or more strategy based team tactics.
