I love Poland like a son loves his mother.

Except that mother's abusive roommates, Hans and Ivan, used to beat her on the head so often that she drools a bit and acts weird ever since.
not all sons love their mothers...

I think that I only live here (US). But I would love giving another country like England or Australia a try so I could have a better viewpoint.

depends really. i can work from anywhere, so location means little. last time i actually worked for someone was when i was creatively writing for a video game company.
Some 'jobs' maybe ... used to do forex myself which is nice, pay for platform, use it ... as long as you have a decent internet, a couple of accounts and of course a large amount of capital you can work pretty much anywhere.

But I hated trading...

I actually likesd static jobs (working in a physical location with lots of people) ... if only because people are supposedly my forte. Don't see it myself, but KPIs always improve whenever I'm in a position to shout at people and make interns and probies cry.

and about relationships and friends, ya, you never get relationships, but i find them draining anyway. maybe one day i will find an intellectual girl that is worth giving up my nomad lifestyle, but until then, i have a broader area to find her. and friends are easily made. i can walk into a bar or coffee shop and be receiving free drinks from the owners. has happened many times, and will likely continue happening.
Hence the 'true' part I added.

A true friend who ocassionally provides you a home cooked meal they/spouse made at home at the end of a shift. Or brings you a few bottles of wine on the weekend because you're one of the first people they thought of when they wished to break the news that they were getting married.

Or someone to spend 6 hours shopping for clothes and to watch an entire day, from morning to sunset eating pastries at the park.

True friends.

See ... after a year or so you start getting into those sorts of relationships when you're regularly at another's house eating with their family. Where it's like you've been adopted ...

You move, you start at square 1. It gets tiring trying to make deep friendships when you know you're never gonna see them again.

the only problem i have with it is actually changing all my information. getting home phone, internet and power hooked up and such is annoying. i quit carrying a cell phone because i hated receiving text messages, but it would be a lot easier to get a pay as you go card and just get a new sim in each city i move to.
I hated getting new cellphones when I moved ... that and the strange rental agreements you enter into in other countries ...

That and constantly spending money not only to freight stuff, but also deciding what stuff to throw out.

See when I settled back into Australia I fucking loved it .. I have an old shirt I still wear when I'm doing nothing but vegging out infront of the tv. Whereas before I had to throw out everything old to save money and time when moving.

Things like that piss me off. I like my ancient t-shirt ... wouldn't wear it outside, but it's like a stuffed animal you wear when you're having a fat day.

I love America and the freedoms I enjoy living here that are unparalleled, in spite of all of the country's flaws.

My personal feeling is that Australia shits all over any other offering this planet has. Including Antarctica.

Sure, our internet's shit, our pollies have an uncomfortable fascination with China's censorship policies, and we pay double what our trans-Pacific brethren do despite our dollar currently being stronger...

But we've got fucking DROPBEARS.

Oh, and we're less likely to be shot on the street because some nutjob was still able to legally purchase a gun.

Captcha: hotelica mucinous. What. The. FUCK?

I like America, sure. But I'm not about to go wave a flag, put my hand over my heart, and shout "AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!" to everyone passing by on the street. It's a great place to live, but it's far from flawless and there are plenty of other good countries in existence. Even if it was truly perfect, I'm not really the type to base my life off of blind patriotism anyways.

I'm From England but I live in Australia at the moment, for me it's been a big case of the grass is always greener. I'd kill to be back at home in the UK right now. To answer your question though, there's parts of England I dont like sure...but it's where I was born and raised and where most of my family still are, so yeh I like my home country.

I like being British, and I would rather live here than anywhere else. Of course, it has it's problems, just like anywhere else.

I don't know. I don't get what makes it different from the rest of the world. It's a fine place, but the fact that I live here doesn't exactly make it anymore special than any other country. I think I would feel the same if I moved to any other country anywhere else in the world.

Hmm, I'm a dual citizen of South Africa and Germany (born in South Africa to German parents). I consider both to be home, because I was raised in both, and spend about an equal period of time in either. And I have a house in both :)

*EDIT* I love both as nations- cultural identities as opposed to political ones- lines on a map. But then, politics is important to a nation too

I love both. And I kinda hate both places because I love them.

Germany Pros: beer, hot fraulein, Alps, rolling grassy plains, the Black Forrest, really good food, central location in Europe, amazing public transport system, smart engineers, cool cars, effective local government, good blend of liberal and conservative values, (formerly) skilled military (and cool tanks) and a principled public who'll fight for what's right (we're a massively morally aware society)...

Germany Cons:... who fuck up sometimes because of our reluctance to intervene in international affairs, read Libya. Stupid hippy Bavarian voters who've voted in the Greens because of an earthquake in a country on a damn fault line. Which Bavaria isnt on. And the worst: German hipsters. Who I want to punch in the mouth. Guido Westervelle.

South Africa Pros: Its fucking Africa man. Sunsets, braai, rugby, natural beauty everywhere, lions, elephant, waterfalls, the bush, Cape Town, Cape Point, the Garden Route. South African babes. Damn. Some inspirational people: Mandela, Tutu. Singing in Zulu and Xhosa

South Africa Cons: Really, really, really bad government. Former struggle heroes losing their damn minds and becoming the worst Neo-Patrimonialist bannana republic self serving assholes ever. People who still vote for the ANC even after its dickhead leaders (read above) fuck them every time. Power goes out intermittently. Slow, expensive internet. Bad roads.

Wales is quite a good country, IMO. But I hear quite a few people moan... but that's life, right?

Not to dismiss their opinions, mind you.

Hell yeah I love my country, Slovenia.

That's why my heart's breaking down because I must witness what the neocommunists are doing with it. In 2 years of their mandate they've pretty much destroyed everything we built in about 20 years as an independent country.

Anyhow... still love it. We're starting to head into the right direction. :)

I am a U.S. citizen that grew up in Japan. I used to hate America, but after living here for four years, I'm not so sure why some people hate it so much.
because some people are just as stupid and ignorant as thease imaginay "Americans" they like to bash

anyway Im Austalian and while I dont consider myself particually patriotic I consider myself very lucky to live in such a great country

I mean sure no place is perfect, not even Australia (its hot, the internet is rubbish and we have an irritating obsession with sport and AFL, plus the games are expensive)

but hey, I still like it here

In Australia at the moment it is the best place I have lived in my life (better internet please), my homeland, aka England I sorta dislike because of the weather.

The actual continent of Australia, as in the climate and the landscape, I love. The people... well unless you're one of the flag wearing, racist, nationalist, loudmouth provincial shitheads then you're probably a decent enough person.

As for the government, well on one hand Australia has the second highest standard of living in the world so generally I don't think things could be that bad. I just have quite a hatred for both the ALP and the Coalition and it seems like both of them are trying to have a contest to see who can fuck up the country faster. Particularly as a gay person I feel loathed by both parties, and it really hurts, it's one of the major reasons Australia wouldn't be top of the list of places I'd want to live if I had the choice. Saying that, though, it's in the top five, which is means that in the scheme of things I don't have much of a reason to complain.

Just FYI, #1 on the list would be Canada.

Wow, Aussies seem to quite like their country, and I'm no exception - born and raised in Australia, and I really do love it. I mean, sure, there are some drawbacks to living here. Stuff can be expensive and the internet is slow, but overall it's not a bad place to be. I haven't been to every country in the world, so it's not like I can compare with all of them, but if the thread title is a yes/no question then I guess I can only say yes.

"love"? definitely not.

Know it's better than readily available alternatives? Yes.
