Poll: Do You March Under A Genre Banner?

So, do you follow only a certain kind of music* genre? Do you dab in other genres now and again, or do you take whatever you like?

This thread is made by a curious thing I observed in my brother. He's a fanatic Rap fan and will frequently show off some of his favorite artists. During one of these times, he was showing off a new album that had me slightly interested, until it reached a song that made me literally shout out in disgust. He continued playing it though, trying to defend it's quality, while he himself flinched. He then proceeded to add it to his Ipod, saying what a "bitchin' tune" it was.
To make his case worse, he absolutely refuses to listen to any other genre, usually on the lines of them being "gay" or "stupid."

Then I take a look at myself. I listen to all sorts of genres. I've heard Classical, Metal, Bag-pipes, Classic and Modern Rock, Pop, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Polka, Continental, Country, and many more. I never insult a genre, though I'll frequently make fun of various artists and songs if they're bad.

So what about you? Do you follow only one genre, sacrificing the Lamb of your Money&Entertainment for it, or do you taste all the nectar that the Garden of Music offers?

i don't take interest in very many songs, and there is nothing really specific about the ones that i do enjoy, although most of them are obscure.

so not really. quite frankly i can only think of 5 songs that i like right now, and none of them really have anything in common with each other.

i love punk metal but any kind of rock and roll is good and afew classicals. but i hate hip hop and rap. the only good rap song is white and nerdy.

I dont go anywhere under any sought of Music banner, listing to things other than dance and rap round here will get you knifed by those who are intolerant, of which there are many.

Im diversified in my music anyway, i love all music not just one genre, my friends however are into heavy metal and Rock.

i listen to what i want, i may not like All or anything else from this artist, besides 1 song

the only band ive liked EVERY song they have, is korn, but other then that its all over

I like manly Alt Rock, but A LOT of different sounds fall under that. On my iTunes there's Nirvana to White Stripes, Fallout Boy to Kings of Leon, so Alt. Rock is pretty broad of a genre, but it hits A LOT of my songs.
I DO experiment with other genres too though, some rap (hardly, usually rap rock) and some Metal.

The largest concentration of what I like in in the Metal genre, but I also like Alternative rock, some Hip-Hop, and even Country every so often.

In the end, I just lisen to any song that I like, regardless of genre (Although my exposure to some genres tend to be more or less then others.).

I'm mostly into metal and its subgenres (progressive, nu, and experimental for the most part). But there are some other songs in genres that may catch my attention.

I listen to bits and pieces of pretty much any genre. From first wave ska to 'fourth wave' (progressive) ska to punk to hard rock to metal operas to power metal to rap metal to rap and back to electronic stuff. I'm really all over the place, there's at least one artist I like in pretty much every genre I've ever heard of.

Music is music. Enjoy it for what it is instead of wwhat it's marketed as. That's not to say that genres should be abolished, it's okay to be organized. That doesn't mean they should be your only guideline.

I like songs from many genres, although i do quite like rock and metal.

It's a coincidence that most of my music is power or symphonic metal or J-pop (or symphonic or video game/movie soundtracks). I don't limit myself deliberately.

on the same topic im always seeing rock/metal threads and even a rap one so my questions is are there any other drum and bass / dubstep / jungle fans on here

The bulk of what I own and listen to is heavy metal, however right now I'm listening to 'the cat empire'. The next song on my playlist is by 'lifehouse', so I suppose I'd say I don't strictly follow one genre, but rather avoid things I dislike.
