It depends on you can make them look like.
I cannot stand the human models in WoW, for instance.
Pretty much this. In WoW, for example, Draeni have far prettier faces, (and I like their culture) so I'd play 'em and ignore their hideous goat-butts.
At least, I'm talking about the females, who look pretty human.

Humans are usually more balenced and in RTS games more industrial and well rounded.

I avoid playing as a human when I can. If my choices are limited to human or elf/asari, I'll go human, but otherwise I won't. If Dwarves/Krogan are available I pick them no matter what.

I think Bretons count as human, so yes. Normally I'm dark elf and they are certantly not.

No. I am usually Elf (pref dark elf) or whatever is closest to that in the game.
Unless the games elfs are total shite like if they was TES:Morrowind Wood Elf style, in that case they can piss off and I'll be Human

I tend to play things fairly safe my first go-around in any game of that type. Human, almost always the basic Warrior class, push my way through everything using brute strength. During my second or third playthroughs, though, I think outside the box quite a bit more.

I usually try to play a character that looks like and has stats as close to the real me as possible. then after that play through I go back and try everything else. I mostly play rpgs I haven't played too many rts games. i guess there are a few shooters where you can be something other than human like timesplitters but its just cosmetic.

I usually play as human characters. This is because they usually have more balanced stats and compliment my jack-of-all-trades playstyle. I will play as other races sometimes if there are gameplay benefits that I want. For example, in Oblivion I'm a Breton (although I would consider them "human") because of their extra magic and magic resistance.

Usually no. They're usually the boring, but practical ones and I usually like to find a niche to specialize in. My enjoyment of stealth and magic classes usually puts me into the races that prefer them.

It also always feels a little run of the mill. As a human, I'm pretty much guaranteed to win by the story. It's one of the reasons that I liked Starcraft, the zerg won when Brood War was up.

normally I hate playing humans since I already am one. But most games where you're a different race (ie: Morrowind) doesn't matter, except for stats, because I'm always in first-person mode so I can actually fight.

I always play the standard Human Warrior With Shield my first time through.
Good way to get the basics down, before mixing it up a bit.

Well, depends on how I wanna play...
Example from Oblivion.
If some race like an Orc is well suited for melee combat, I take that, if I wanna go sneaky "I snipe you with my bow, ******!" style I go with Khajit because of their build in night vision, agility and stuff.
And If I wanna play mage I got with a race with magic related stats.

Then I start messing around, making orc mages and argonian warriors or some crazy stuff...
But along the line, sure, I do also play as humans...the Nord was my viking wannabe for a while.

So, depends on the stats.

Well I was thinking about halo:reach and I look forword to playing as some of the new eliet types but it got me thinking, given the chance I usually play as a alien or fantasy creature some examples are:

Oblivion:Argonian

neverwinter nights:Half-ork

Mission humanity:bug things

Tiberium wars:scain

Pax imperia:the guys with the hook face things.

I X2:the treat: though you are human I used alien ships

So I put to you, do you play as a human?(the stats option refers to games where humans have advantages and disadvantages like everything else)
In TES games (which I hate) I play as a human, but on most other games I do play somewhat else, except WoW of course.

Ya I play as a human, but I also play as an Elf, Dwarf, or any other race. It all really depends on stats and the type of game.

Yes, unless there's a decent looking furry model, like a cool wolf race or something. Usually though I like balanced stats and only humans seem to offer that.

Only if they are unique from the typical "normal humans in a bat-shit-crazy world with aliens and dwarves" thing.

For example, say humans are the only ones who can channel magic/psionic powers, because of their genetic purity or whatever. Maybe they are the only technologically advanced race. Hell, maybe all the humans are able to contact the gods because they are their purest creation or something.

It's stuff like that that makes me intrigued, and makes me want to play a human.
