I don't take special note of people's race or gender.
Wait, you'd need to take special notice to figure out if someone was male or female? It's not like it makes you sexist to say you regularly do or do not play games with a girl.
I didn't say I wouldn't notice. I said I don't take special note of race or gender. I'm sure you would notice what the people on your street look like if you saw them, but I'm willing to bet you don't remember the ethnicity and sex of everyone that lives around you.
Most people who I actually consciously remember, of course I can remember there gender or ethnicity (although I don't know what this has to do with the topic). I may not remember every single person I've ever seen, or even met, but gender is one of the primary pieces of information I'll retain about people, even I barely know.

I'm far more likely to think "There was this girl there but I can't remember her name or anything about her." Than I am to go "There was this person there, I remember literally nothing about them, not even their gender."

I'm not sure I've explained this well at all, but basically, if you remember someone, you definitely remember their gender, as that's one of the most important and basic pieces of reference. You wouldn't know someone well enough to play a video game with them, but not know if they're male or female.

It just comes across that you're desperately trying to profess how much you see males and females (and different races) as equals, to the point where you come up with some rubbish about not taking note of the gender of people you meet.
Wait, you're talking about people you actually know and play with in person? I thought we were talking about just people you play with--like random people on your team, people in your guild, etc.

Haha there we go then. The way I took it from the initial post what other people have said I figured he more meant locally or online with friends. Ah well, at least I killed some time while I was meant to be working.

based on my experience, not many girls play AAA titles, when i'm on the ME3 multiplayer (i have a mic) people still go "OMG a Girl!!!" I play a fair few AAA titles and quite a few games that aren't, i collect and play a lot of video games, i must be a rare specimen indeed.

Glad to be of service :p

I almost want to go back and edit my posts. Such a colossal fail >_>

I keep hearing about that sort of thing in the forums lately, but I've never seen it happen, even when I was way, way into Call of Duty. I can't work out of people are exaggerating or if I'm super lucky.

I am a female and I play games. I have a few multiplayer games (SSBB, L4D1&2, CoD for example) that I play with my boyfriend. But, mostly I single player and we watch each other play games all the time. Does watching someone play a game count? We take turns with single player games. So someone isnt going to be playing so we watch and joke and help each other out. Its fun!

No, but I don't really play with guys either. I pretty much only play games for a single player experience. Used to play LOTRO a lot with my sister before though.

I have a gamer friend, who's a girl, but we're not all that close. I'm sure if we were we'd play more together but I'm a closer friend to her boyfriend. We did have a brawl tournament once (As in our group of friends), and we play D&D where her boyfriends GMing.

No...in fact I don't play any multi-player games at all. Not on a regular basis anyway. I guess my brief forays into the MMO world might have led me to encounter female gamers, but no, not really. I just never got into multi-player. (which sounds like a rarity these days)

I play a ton of split-screen co-op with my daughter. My wife and I put a bunch of hours into Champions of Norrath back in the day, really looking forward to getting Torchlight 2 when it hits.

I have a simple question. Why is it okay for movies, books, TV shows, and virtually every other form of entertainment/expression to show such a thing, but not a game?

My wife and me play games together. We don't have a lot of time, though, since we both work, she is going to school to be a nurse, and I am an instructor for EMS, plus we have a 4 year old, so to get our schedule in sync where we can both play a game together, that we both want to play, is very hard. If fact, I can't remember the last time we did play games together.

My Girlfriend loves Fallout, Team Fortress, Call of Duty (the older ones), Brothers in Arms, Left 4 Dead, *rambling off every game in her library and mine*. In short, yes I do.

Along with my 8 female friends (besides the gf)

I play LOL with a few girls, so yes. Is it really that odd to play games with girls? I don't quite see the point of this thread...

I've played on the same servers as girls and played local/split-screen co-op with a couple but don't on a regular basis. I don't have a girl-friend or any female friends who play games.

Though I generally find it to be a much better experience than playing with guys. A lot more relaxed and playful

Also, what do you mean "lucky" does playing games with girls count as "lucky" now?
For some reason a lot of people think finding a girl who's into games is the Holy Grail of Life.
I don't think I'll ever tire of "I CANNOT BE WITH A GIRL UNLESS SHE IS A GAMER TOO" comments in relationship threads.

That could not make any less sense. It is literally impossible to remember someone without remembering their race or gender. Otherwise you're not remembering a person.

From guys I have met I always get the impression they would prefer it if I wasn't obsessed with video games.

But meh.

I met some really nice guys on Team Fortress 2 last night who were really mature and friendly. It was nice.

Well hey, as long as you can handle some incredibly passive-aggressive misogyny then the relationship threads are the place for you to meet 'n' greet.
