For instance, there are people who can't fall asleep without having noise in the background. There are people who can't fall asleep without having some sort of light in the area. Not necessarily a night-light, but some sort of light giving something to focus on. Now, that's an extreme, so I pose the question, do you prefer to go to sleep listening or seeing something? Will that keep you up? Is that the only way you can sleep?

I can sleep without it, but I do prefer to listen to chillout or lounge music while I try to sleep.

And from up until I was 17, I couldn't sleep without some sort of light in the room. It wasn't a fear of the dark, I was just so used to sleeping with a light on when I was younger I found it difficult to get a good nights sleep in a completely dark room.

I like the TV on. I just set it on a timer and turn my back to it. I don't know why but it helps me sleep

Normally when I sleep I turn everything off, but I don't mind a TV or radio being on if it's not disruptively loud.

I have to have some TV show going on when I'm falling asleep.Preferably some comedy show,so that I don't have to focus on the story.

I almost always try to have the radio on when I go to sleep. Listening to the sports radio stations helps me.

I've had a fan running in my room that blocks out other noises for so long, I'm now dependent on the noise. I litterally can't sleep without the noise of the fan.

I find it really hard to fall asleep when it's noisy... I'm not in bed right now because the rain is keeping me awake.

This. It's light and background noise.

I need some sort of white noise like a fan.

But media tends to be too distracting if its not a consistent thing. Like when I was younger, I used to sleep to music, and if i didnt have it i couldnt get to sleep. I have to be really exhausted to go to sleep to music.

And I absolutely cannot go to sleep with a tv on. Its something about hearing conversation that keeps me awake.

I've always slept with the TV on. If I don't have a TV then I'll usually be listening to music. I need something to focus on otherwise I'll start thinking to much to fall asleep.

due to having housemates, namely the one who formerly used 3 alarms, i enjoy having a fan on to block out random noises in the night/early morning. it doesn't help me fall asleep, but rather to remain so.

I sleep with a radio on in the background, or not at all. Silence allows me to think deeply, and then I'll get an idea, and then I will be up all night.

I have an extremely hard time falling asleep without a little noise. It's just from how I grew up, but if I have to try to lay in silence, I just lay there for hours before I pass out randomly.

I have a box fan I need to have on to sleep. I have a smaller fan for when I travel between houses(friends houses for parties or staying over at my girlfriends).
