So finally deciding that I need a intermission from CoD:MW2 to play something else, I rented (since I work at a movie rental store and don't usually pay for rentals, except when our store doesn't HAVE the rentals) Killzone 2 and the first Bad Company game, 2 FPS games that I've heard were fun and interesting to play. The first I tried out (since I actually paid full price to rent this game) was KZ2. I spent 5 minutes actually playing it (maybe 7 if you count installation) and tried both story and multiplayer modes to try and enjoy. The story that hit me was bland, the level designs confusing to navigate, and moving around as well as aiming were a piece of shit. So abandoning all hope for the story, I tried to hop in online, hoping that it would give me a fun game. I ended up spilling my life story to the game and had to sign up to join some clan to play a mode I didn't know what I was playing. So disappointed I angrily hit the eject button (but not really hard, because I love my PS3) and put the game away.
Hoping to have replaced the bile that I found the 1st Bioshock to be, I popped in Battlefield: Bad Company, a game whose sequel I've heard is good form the forums and I felt like giving it a shot, only since I like playing what came before before what came after, I played the first Bad Company. The game play and controls felt better and it felt like it could interest me. However, again I became uninterested, unable to grasp the notion of fun that I'm supposed to when PLAYING the game. Again, sad and disappointed, I took it out and thought I'd eventually give it a second shot. Now I put CoD:MW2 back in and played a few matches before I found it to be unfun suddenly and I went to bed.
However, recently I've played 2 3rd person shooty games, Dark Sector and Dark Void. Dark Sector had biological stuff going on, and with the disc it felt a little broken, but combat felt natural and defeating enemies put a smile on my face when I saw their heads explode and heard their screams of pain. Shooting them was also fun and I'm glad I picked up the game. Dark Void I tried at work, and even though I didn't get the jet pack until the end of playing since I had to close our store (I tried playing DV at work), I had more fun with it that I did KZ2 or B:BC.
Today I realized, that between these 2 games, the 3rd person God of war games, along with Resident Evil 4 (my personal favorite game) and other great games like SotC, I seem to be playing and having fun with more 3rd person games. Sure I'm still a Portal/TF2/HL2/CoD(4):MW(2) fan among a few other FPS games, it seems that 3rd person games seem to be more fun to me.
The reason for this entire explanation is to ask this question: Are you a fan of 1st or 3rd person games? Overall that is. Also, is your favorite game 1st or 3rd person, and how does that relate to your personal choice in games? Now, these can be shooters, RPGs, (RTS has to be 1st person if I'm not mistaken) and ect, but overall, this question is leaning towards the shooters, since that's where most games are either 1st or 3rd and there is a lot of overlap
Edit: I meant to add the Both option in before, but hit the wrong button and was too lazy to go back and edit it before...
