Not really a drinker. No liquor, no beer. I will have a glass of wine once in a blue moon though.

I have drank before but not in nearly 5 years (1st of November will be 5 years). I have also never been drunk, I have been "tipsy" but I just felt angry and wanted to lash out ... which was the last time I had alcohol.

That night I had 1 Guinness and 6 Newcastle brown, since it all tastes exactly the same to me I am not bothered what I drink (when I did). I do know the difference between Guinness and bud but I don't know the difference between like Bud, fosters, carling, etc

I just don't see the point in paying so much money (comparatively speaking) for something that will last a few hours then make you feel like crap and harm your body. I would rather spend it on a game I can enjoy for many more hours and has less damaging effects than booze.

I live to drink!... COKE!

In all seriousness, alcohol holds little appeal for me. The most I ever drink on a regular basis is about a 1/6 cup of spiced mead at dinner. A drink that most people appalling, as it's sweet a has very little bite.

I should note that everyone in my family is exposed to alcohol at a young age, and none of us have the propensity to drunkenness. I've always fancied that so many people are prohibited from touching alcohol until their "of age", and then they binge on the stuff and get hooked on some of it's unsavory effects. All while forgetting that it's just a drink, like Coke.

Look, it's all about atmosphere. The drink is essential, but it's all about drinking WITH someone.
This about sums it up.

On a personal note however I am allergic to most grog or rather seem to be. I tend to have massive and notable skin peel on my hands if I get shit faced. That and if I get above tipsy my memory disappears so the only type of drunk I am is black out.

That didn't used to hold me back but now I main cider which seems to affect me much less.

That said, I'll never remember some of my best nights but I did wake up with a feeling of satisfaction and had fun piecing together blurs and snippets with other people's stories. So yeah dependent on the price of drinks, the people I'm with and the awkwardness of the situation I can have as little as a few drinks and some quite conversation, get tipsy, pick up and maybe not be a complete idiot OR I could go all out and make memories for myself to find in the morning (however embarrassing).

I feel like I am the only one who drinks things because I like the flavour.
I don't drink to get tipsy because I hate the concentration loss. It's not bad for IRL because I remain comparatively sharp (Poker/Card games). But computer games it INFURIATES me.
I like the slight tipsy feel as it makes me more socially comfortable (or more awkward).

I never get a headache when hungover. I just get nausea. I'm very conscious about how much I drink as I find being sick to be "hell".

I may have one or two very occasionally, but I don't really enjoy it much. It doesn't do much for me, and I have very little to no desire to drink.

The only time I drink is to get drunk because I'm depressed (yeah, yeah, I know it's hardly healthy)

So no, normally I don't drink at all anymore, having had somewhat of a problem when I was younger, and I've never really enjoyed drinking very much, so it actually wasn't that hard to give up.

It was all related to performance on stage. Drinking made it easier when I was 14-16, but it gets out of control so easily. Eventually I just had to learn how to perform without alcohol.

Poison of choice is usually tequila. You can get it cheap but it's still alright for the taste and it gts you drunk fast.

I do, although I can't afford to do it a lot. I usually do it in social situations but last week I was drinking and watching a movie and chatting to friends online because for a few hours the alcohol was making me feel less and less miserable.

I'm glad it's a bit cheaper here. I can get drunk for less than a fiver.

I'm not sure really. I've been out drinking a few times but all with people I don't really know that well and always in the same club scene (which I'm not fond of). I want to try drinking with my friends and playing games at the same time because that seems like fun. Basically I need more field data.

I hate drinking, besides the fact that it gives me migraines, it just makes stupid people even more stupid. I haven't had a drink in ages, just don't see the point other than making it a little easier to talk to people.

I used to drink like a fish, actually friends used to worry about me, the amount I'd get through, and sometimes the trouble I'd get into.
Since I got the diabetes though, drink has a very different effect, it's just horrible to get drunk. It kinda amplifies the effect of the alcohol, but thins out my blood, send glucose levels plummeting, then things just get rediculous. I still like the odd drink, but if I go out drinking, I have to really pace myself... and hangovers are an absolute killer now.

I'd say that if you can drink and enjoy yourself, then make the most of it, enjoy yourself while you can, because 1 thing is certain - it won't always be like that... only the dead stay young forever.

Thats because they all pretty much taste the same and are perhaps some of the worst beers/lagers you can buy despite the multi million pound marketing campaigns trying to convince you otherwise.

Yes, real ale snob here.

I do enjoy drinking, I even drink on my own at home when the mood takes me. I don't drink as much as I used to though, mainly because I can't drink every night of the week any more without it making me feel like shite.

Having said that, I am at a music festival next week so I will be pretty much binge drinking for 4 days straight. I'm going to suffer from that for the following week and its probably not that good for me, but hey.

I like alcohol a lot, but I don't like a lot of alcohol.

I'm kind of a lightweight, and don't like feeling out-of-control. Other than that though, I tend to be a happy drunk, so that's fun.

Compared to everybody I know I have the constitution of an ox, so I haven't drank enough to get drunk yet. Last time I tried, I just got sleepy and had a nap. Wasn't much fun.
So, I've accepted that I shall always be the most sober person at every social drinking event, and I'm fine with that.
Still fun to watch everybody else be stupid though, so I suppose yes I do enjoy drinking.

Wish I had the money to really get into the fancier drinks...

I used to enjoy a lot of drinking, as in every day of the week, but looking back it was a horribly embarrassing period of my life, so now I don't smoke and I only drink when I absolutely can't escape it (parties/pubs) but even then it'll be maybe two or three G+T's and I'm done.

I know how you feel with the taxing thing, though, OP. It's bullshit in Britain too, and I absolutely adore the fact that the government is doing everything in it's power to crush booze promos like BOGOF and 3 for £10 but they are doing absolutely nothing to stop supermarkets pushing deals on ready meals which are, quite literally, dripping with fat despite, last time I checked, Britain having a skyrocketing obesity/heart disease problem.

Way to stay on top of things, you stupid fucks.

I'm in the military... it is compulsory!

I can drink Guinness/Gin and Tonic in copious amounts... but also drink a variety of other ales/spirits! Being British I also prefer my ale at room temperature!

Last Thurs was my last night out... I had a 12 box of Guinness as pre drinks, then had 3 G+T's and 2 Jaegerbombs when out!

I will always drink a lot at the start of the night, and slow down by the end. Normally avoid a hangover this way!

I'm Australian, but I only drink in moderation. I do enjoy it though. I'm not that big a fan of beer, although I am quite partial to Tsingtao (an ex got me onto it once and I've liked it ever since). I prefer cider (usually Strongbow Dry) to beer, and I quite like rum (Coruba's my favourite). Not that Bundaberg shit though. Honestly, that stuff is pure distilled evil that'll turn even the most mild-mannered bloke into a vicious, hateful bastard who would murder his own grandmother for a laugh.

Also mead. I enjoy quaffing mead.

Drinking itself is not fun.
Sitting at home drinking vodka alone is not my idea of a good time.

Getting into a social situation where people are normally drinking is what is fun.
I tend to only drink at occasions, but also at gatherings like BBQs and stuff.
In those situations, it's fun. I will usually have 4-5 drinks, but I never get more than tipsy.
Agreed. I love getting smashed at parties, but sitting alone and drinking just sounds so mind numbingly depressing!
