One of the best perks of being military is the fact that the local library buys games and you get to borrow them for a week for free. Plus, they take suggestions from the patrons so they're always stocked with good titles like COD, Halo, Metal Gear, SSB, Resident Evil, etc.

I am a poirate when I am not sure about a game and it has not been released in my local rental store, which is all the time!

Only when I am sure I like a game and that it is worth my time and money do I buy the original copy. That way I avoid bleeding wounds to my wallet.

If I'm really unsure about a game I'll rent it if the local store has it. Barring that, I'll poke around for a demo or Torrent.

If I like it or know I *really* wan it, I'm off to Gamestop's website.

I was so psyched about Resident Evil 5, and I didn't really have the money for it so I decided to just rent it, with the intention of buying it later. I beat the game after 3 days, and happily saved myself another 50 dollars. I would never rent Madden, or a game like Mass Effect, but I've found renting has saved me a bunch of money in games that you can actually complete.

Not that you can't complete Mass Effect, it's just that I would never be able to.

When I was a kid I rented practically all my games; but now that I have a job and can afford them, I prefer to buy them. The two reasons (excuses) I make for buying them are that a) most of my games have long play-throughs' and b) its the only real collection I have =D

Never. It's just like piracy to developers and creators. Really - there's no difference.
you do know what game renting is right?

I do know. Look at it. When someone pirate the game, developer won't get any cash. When someone rent the game, developer gets ALMOST nothing.

Sooo, by your definition renting cars is almost the same as STEALING them? Same for renting DVDs I guess, right?

Also, by your definition, simply NOT BUYING the game is the same as STEALING it since developers get no cash...

No, not anymore. Not really much point in it seeing as I only buy games that are $20 or less anyways. I just got the first Assassin's Creed for $15 brand new yesterday. I can already tell it's worth it.

I wished I could, but sadly we haven't got a place to rent games around here. I have to miss out on a lot now, and I don't like it.

I rent anything that doesn't seem like it will be over 10 hours in length [with a few noticeable exceptions] so most of my owned library is RPGs

Yup, in fact I'm going more of the renting way than even buying a lot of new games. My problem is with my busy, busy life I don't have time to play many games at all. That and I tend to get sick of them after a while and don't see them through to the end. Therefore renting is perfect for me, I've enjoyed games like Fallout 3, Mario Wii, RE5 and so on just by renting them out when I have a night free and going nuts on them, then I feel I've done enough and don't have to play them anymore. It works for me.

Yeah I do, I recently started renting again, I don't have as much disposable income as I used to have so paying £40 for a game I'll likely complete in a week seems insane to me. Some games I will buy but for anything I'm not sure about, I'll rent first.
