I found out the other day that when I'm really scared I apparently just freeze in place.

I was hanging out with a friend the other day, we went for a drive and he said he had to stop at his sisters place for a second to pick up something. When we got there he told me to come inside with him, I said ok. Half way on the stair case I hear the door open and I look up. His sister had opened the door and let her rottweiler out. The thing was about 3 feet from my face and did not look particularly happy to see me judging from the way it was growling at me.

It was the first time I can say I was genuinely afraid for my life, apparently I got so scared the only reaction I had was to stand in place with my hands in the air like i was getting robbed or something...

I gasp and then use that air to scream JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! So screaming yes, squealing or whatever most girls do no. Seriously, when I'm at a haunted house or something a girl does one of those high pitch screams I want to punch her in the throat. That noise is just nails on a chalkboard to me.
I once went to see "The Village" in theaters (this was before I realized that M. Night sucks at his job) and I thought I was going to kill some girls in that theater. It wasn't even scary! It just sucked! I can't stand that sound of a girl screaming unless she actually has something to be screaming about.

OT: I personally prefer to gasp and then start shouting swears words. I don't believe I've done anything that could count as screaming in a long time. So no, I don't scream...but then again I've never been attacked by a spider the size of my head. That would make me scream. *shudders* Hate spiders....hate, hate, hate!

Might yelp if its painful...like accidentally touching the electric fence. But generally no. Apparently I have a habit of going for my knife or where my handgun would be if I was carrying. I never noticed it and its actually a good thing in most cases. (note going for it doesn't mean drawing, aiming, pointing, shooting, stabbing, or slashing.)

Several years of "hypermacho" conditioning has turned the effete "nyearah" into something closer to a roar or battle cry(still sounds somewhat close to a growling scream), followed by throwing jabs into whatever surprised me.

The worst result is that I once gave a friend a bloody nose.

Not really. I do punch though. It makes things rather awkward if a friend decides jump out of no where and scare me during Halloween...only to end up with a face full of fist and a bloody nose.
I once nearly broke my friends arm because of something like that. I'm generally really hard to sneak up on, I have good hearing and peripheral vision. One day I was playing video games and listening to music with headphones in my room of the apartment we shared.

Knowing how hard it is to normally catch me by surprise my buddy came in behind me. At the very last second before he put his hand on my shoulder I saw a shadow on my computer screen. As soon as he touched me I grabbed his arm, shot out of my chair, and got it behind his back, a bit harder than I would have if I knew it was him.

Hes a pretty good wrestler but I managed to catch him off guard that time and he was tapping out pretty quickly. 9 times out of ten he would kick my ass in a "fair" fight but we both fight dirty if it comes to it so we are pretty even.

I let out a high pitched yelp if I'm startled or scared, but don't scream. Screaming is a waste of energy that could be used hitting whoever just startled you.

I've never screamed, save the singing sort, except on two occasions.
Once was my first time on a rollercoaster, looking down from the top and the point right as you're going down.

And second was the link below. I've done all the scary mazes and screamers and stuff and it never got me, but goddamnit I lunged back the first time I did this. It's in korean, but just scroll down slowly. you'll see what I mean.

I stop whatever I was doing immediately, lock up into a defensive position, and freeze for a few seconds. At least until I can assess the situation and make a rational move from there. Nearly every time, it's nothing, and I just slowly back down and resume whatever it was I was doing, pretending it never happened.

I liked that.
The first one surprised me, and the second one made me titter.
I am a strange girlie.

...eerrgh. I hate you now...

EDIT: Apparently, when I'm scared I twitch rapidly. As I was just doing when I saw that...

I do the Ostrich thing. If something scares the shit out of me I usually just freeze and pretend like I'm not there.

No, I jump/jolt or whatever you call it. All anyone needs to do to make that happen is touch my shoulder when I'm not paying attention. I jump easily.
^this.
i do that with the pop up freak out type scare.

but when I'm really scared i don't to anything, i don't make a face, i don't scream, or yell, or yelp. i go neutral... you have no idea how many times people have praised my face on those stupid roller coaster pictures. why? cuz when everybody else has their eyes shut in terror I have this neutral mask eyes open.. almost bored. which I'm f**king not. i'm scared sh*tless. but they don't know that.

Well, I said that I do scream but it's more or less this, haha. Zombies, bears, splicers as a, "Where in the HELL did you come from!?" moment. In real life, I usually just jump out of my skin. Very seldom would I straight out scream but I have let out a bit of a yelp before, haha.

I prefer the term "shouting" myself.

Last time I "shouted", I was playing MGS3, I was crawling in some tall grass so no one could see me. I was lying perfectly still and then suddenly I saw a snake rear up to bite me. I paused the game and freaked out.

Thankfully it was just a game, otherwise I would have blown my cover. :(
