Well, my friend came round and when ever he does he goes straight on Halo. Now Halo's good, but I don't like playing it all the time, so mostly I just come up stairs while he's playing and watch some videos or play some good PC games (infact he's downstairs right now :S)

But earlier today I said "Why don't you play Dragon Age 2, it's quite good." He accepts and selects his character, then skips through all the opening cuttscenes. I was like "WTF, What are you doing?"
He said "Cuttscenes are boring, I always skip them."

I told him that games like DA and ME are all about story and how it affects the player. He said they're still boring.

Within 30 mins he's confused, wondering why he was supper powerful in the beggining, and why he wasn't now, wondered why his brother was gone, why he was in a city trying to get 50 soverigns and why he was playing the game when he could be playing "Slayer" on Halo over and over again.

He completely lost intrest of top quality games like Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption, Oblivion, and other really good single player games to play L4D2, Halo and CoD's multiplayer.

Is he just a emotionless husk or does everyone do this?

I said "no, never" because there isn't a "only if playing on co-op with friends" option.

When playing solo, I never skip cutscenes. I know I WILL miss out on some important shit if I do.

He's an emotionless husk.

I never skip a cutscene. I personally believe story is just as important as gameplay, in fact it sometimes becomes more important than gameplay (at least to me).

I listen for everything, too. Portal is a good example of this - sometimes in the game, if you wait long enough, GLaDOS will continue talking about something (like the weighted companion cube), and most of that talk is really funny. I played the game waiting for every line to be said, until she began repeating lines. Played Portal 2 the same way.

What about an option for 'Only when I reload my save because the boss just killed me.'?

I can't vote otherwise.

I always watch them on any full play through. I often watch them again even If I'm just replaying a section (as I'm usually replaying it for the cut scene anyway.)

The only time I skip them is if they are right before a boss and the boss just killed me so I've already watched the cut scene moments before and I just want to get this fight out of the way.

Only if I'm playing with my husband, or just going in for a quick match. The story is why I play games, so I don't skip them.

I skip cutscenes if I have seen them before, like if I have already won the game, and I am playing it a second time, or if there is an annoying boss fight right after that scene with no save point. Your friend is silly.

Well I do skip DA:O cut scenes because frankly I didn't like them and I finished it not for fun, but because I have OCD, I can never start a game and not finish it.
Other than that, no.
Unless you count accidentally, which happens all the bloody time and frustrates me.

First playthrough is about the experience. The rest are about percentage completion or making different choices.
Also, reloading a level is mind-numbing - I skip cutscenes like a one-legged bird runs from sugar-fueled 5 year old.

Never the first time. If I'm playing a game and I get the feeling I need to skip a cutscene, it's clearly not the game for me.

Depends on the game, some just have god awful cutscenes and those are usually also the games where cutscenes are unskippable :D

Maybe he's just a different sort of person than you. He wants a quick thrill you want an involving storyline.

I sometimes play wow pvp and LFD with some guy friends of mine. They have no interest in story they just want to play some quick matches where as I treat gaming the same as reading a book.

We just enjoy different things.

As an end note...are EA the only ones who force you to watch thier logo? God that's annoying.

I skip all sorts on second runs, either from a reload or whatever. Sounds like OP's friend is one of those who has had their attention span fried by too many twitch games. Doesn't bode well for real world issues.

Yes that's "Only when I reload a level"

Only when I've already seen the cutscene will I skip it, but sometimes when I play through a game I watch all the cutscenes again just for the hell of it.

On the first playthrough never and if I accidentally skip it I load the level again because I fell like I'm missing a part of the story. On a second or above playthrough I skip it if I don't fell like watching it again.

Oh well. To each their own I suppose. I wouldn't be recommending any story driven games to him any time soon. That leaves music games, racing sims, and COD. *jokes*. Myself, I'm generally in it for the story so every cutscene is played right through. The ONLY exception, is if I'm having my arse handed to me in a particular section and have already seen it half a dozen times within the space of half an hour.
