On my first playthrough in a game I watch them, unless they're super boring and don't explain some of the plot. On the second I tend to skip most of them save the truly epic ones like Prescott's speech and the Tip of the Spear.

I always watch them once, because I'm a sucker for a story (good or bad). Second time around (or third, fourth, fifth...), if they're not necessary (like in most FPS's) I just skip them.

I don't during the first playthroughs, but retrospectively for some games wish I did *cough*Vanquish*cough*

I was going to say I never skip cut-scenes the first time I watch them, but then I realized there's an exception to the rule: Valkyria Chronicles II cut-scenes. *shudder*

I always watch them the first time around. After that, if I have to repeat the level or play the game a second time, I sometimes skip them. By the way, I hate it when cutscenes are unskippable and there's a checkpoint right before one. I don't want to have to watch it a million times if I die over and over again afterwards.

I only skip for 2 reasons. 1 if I'm doing a second play through and I don't want a refresher. Or two if I die and it replays a cut scene.

Depends on the game. If it's Company Of Heroes, yes. If it's something like Batman AA or Mass Effect, then no.

Hey, Everyone! My first post here. I thought I'd sign-up and join these interesting (not to mention humorous) discussions. :)

I've voted: 'Only if I reload a level once or twice'. I usually enjoy watching cutscenes in games, even if I'm replaying a game through and I've seen them loads. The only time(s) I'll skip them is when I'm trying to get to a specific point in a level for something, say... for an achievement, and I'm not playing through for the story. Either that, or I'll skip cutscenes through a second or third playthrough if they're crap. :p

I have a friend who is exactly the same and my mate is an emotionless husk that thinks games like bulletstrom are the best in the world because there are funny ways to kill people and they swear a lot

Never on the first viewing.

If I die and have to replay a section then I'll sometimes skip. Depends how good the cutscene is.

The one and only game that made me skip cutscenes without watching was Crysis: Warhead. The story in that game (well, expansion) was the biggest pile of steaming turds I have ever been confronted with.

Tell me about it. I have another friend who ONLY plays on CoD. And though my other friends don't like it as much as he does, it makes it annoying when he's online and he's like "Hey, let's come and play CoD, Red Dead Redemption has terrible multiplayer" and Everyone suddenly agrees.
My XBL is very lonely when a CoD comes out and the next 6 months after it's release

yeah the same thing happens to me when CoD and Halo caomes out, it's such a pain in the ass, but I think CoD is considered a better multiplayer because more people can play on it and there was a lot more effort put into CoDs multiplayer while for Red Dead most of the effort went into the single player

Really depends what game I'm playing. I won't skip the scenes on the first playthrough. And I won't skip good scenes on the second playthrough. Annoys me when people skip them on the first though.

I personally enjoy watching cutscenes because it makes me feel more immersed in the plotline of the entire game. My stepdad is just like your friend who skips all cutscenes, and I tell him "You're skipping the entire story here!" and he just says "I don't care what they have to say." and wonders what he's supposed to do next and asks me for help. I swear, I'm going to move out and my phone will be getting calls 24/7 of him asking me a bunch of bull on what to do in this game even when it's a game I've never played before and can't very well help him while I CAN'T SEE IT!

Anyway, there is only one time when I skip a cutscene, and that's if I died in the scene after and really don't feel like waiting and watching a 20 minute-long scene that I just saw 5 frickin seconds ago. Which is exactly why Kingdom Hearts 1 pissed me off with being unable to skip scenes unless there's some trick to it that I have not discovered yet. I always thought that the simplest way to skip a cutscene was with the start button seeing as every console in every generation has had that button and it could be used for universal things.

I keep sidetracking, so I'm going to end here. Tell you friend he's a moron who doesn't know how to enjoy himself with good games, and try to get him to play Mass Effect, where if he skips through dialogue by randomly bashing buttons he'll end up being totally screwed.

I love cutscenes, as long as they're in MODERATION..

titles like MGS4 and the most recent FF had cutscenes that made my balls wither.

I always watch them the first time.
Why watch it more unless it's REALLY good or funny or crucial?

If I restart a level, I skip most cutscenes.
Same goes definitely for multiple playthroughs.
