Poll: Do you still play a shooter's campaign?

Have you ever played doom? I mean the first doom, the one with the cool music and the generic movement. Isn't it awesome? I downloaded it to arcade and have played it over and over again, why? Because its awesome, because its the mother of shooters and it rocks.
I'm going to be honest, I like multiplayer, its fun, but the campaign is also cool, you should check it out every once in a while.
When black ops came out I passed it, not that long, 7 hours, but I realized something nobody else did, or well less people did, I went to school and said, "yeah, black ops is fucking epic, have you finished it?" and they would answer "nah man I only play multiplayer."
This struck me, why only multiplayer, but then again you aren't a gamer, but 90 percent of the people in the escapist are gamers right? so I ask you now, do you still play the campaign or just the multiplayer?
EDIT as the results are going, it seems clear to me that the general gamer audience does play shooters for what they are.

I always play shooter campaigns.
I've played all the Dooms, the Wolfensteins, etc., and I play Halo, Call of Duty, etc.
Call of Duty and Halo's campaigns are actually pretty good, and I enjoy them quite a bit.

I always finish up the campaign before I try out the multiplayer.

It's a good way to learn the mechanics, and why shouldn't you fully explore the game you've bought for your money?

Not playing the singleplayer just seems like a waste to me.

I'm a devoted Halo fan, but I very rarely play online multiplayer at all. Just far too many people on there who are in it to win at the cost of having fun.

I always play single player first. One because I like to get some practice at the game, and two because I'm a sucker for a good story

I am with Yahtzee on this one a game needs to stand on single player alone any multi player feature is just that an added feature that I may or may not choose to use.

The main reason I ALWAYS buy a game for is the campaign although I do love CO-OP campaign like in gears of war or halo

Totally. I love campaigns, and if they can't keep my interest, neither can multiplayer.

I rarely play shooter multiplayer. There's something about being called obscenities by kids half my age that never appealed to me.
