I've wanted to, but all of the DMs that I've found either decided that they didn't want to set up a game, decided that the team was full, or were total dicks.
Rouge Trader? Dark Heresy?Penguinness said:I was doing a Narratology course and as it obivously had nothing to teach us, made us do roleplaying games to "examine the narrative". So in groups we played DnD style games. My group was doing a warhammer 40k one, which took 3 lessons (so 3 weeks) to set up and then we did it for 2 lessons.
It was a bit boring all in all and I think it was just a case of people going out of character and asking questions all the time that ruined it. Don't think it's my thing though.
Think it was Dark Heresey. The best part of it was when I hit my mate in the back with my sniper when trying to kill a zombie thing infront of him. Almost one-hit KOd him too. He was the guy who kept talking all the timeLordMoose said:Rouge Trader? The problem was exactly yours. You didnt have Fun with it.
A rogue Trader game i played, i played as The Sniper, from team fortress 2In character, Australian accent, and over 90 ballistics skill thanks to many buffs and man stopper rounds.
Everyone in that game where playing as TF2 class XD
The Soldier, The Medic, The Demoman (who's Great with voices) The Heavy, the Pyro, with a Heretic alien device latch onto some psykers mind who we had to destroy.
Heh, same scenario here. Weird.Saint Psycho said:Maddenfreak said:So anyways, out of my entire town, me and my freinds seem to have the only dnd group going, and this town has over 5000 people in it. Is dnd becoming a lost art, or is my town just a bad example. I only have 5 people who play dnd, just to put it in perspective.
so, do you still play dnd?
Exact same setting here. My town is about 5,500 people, up in the middle of nowhere. My wife, three friends, and I play. Used to be another group in town, but they have since broken up (something to do with one sleeping with another, ect). Since then, it's just us 5. Usually end up taking turns running as DM, each with their own game, to keep from burning out. My players rock, and we look forward to every Saturday.
We have been playing since the original D&D first came out, and I suspect we'll be playing up until our dying day. Also enjoy other game systems like White Wolf games, Mutants and Masterminds, and even kicked it old-school with G.U.R.P.S.
D&D isn't a lost art, honestly. I have a feeling that's it's more of your geographic location than anything. Don't lose heart. You guys aren't alone. =)
I set myself up a Wiki and started writing. I've done a lot of design projects for pen/paper RPGs, so this comes pretty naturally to me. I'm also majoring in Game Design; that helps too.D Y N A S T Y said:How are you doing that?drizztmainsword said:I don't like DnD anymore. It's too limiting. I'm developing my own RPG system instead. It's coming along quite well.
However, that effectively counts. Roll-play is roll-play no matter what game you're playing.
OT:I never played tabletop but i did play dnd online
I'll eventually get a constant server up and running. Right now I'm using my gaming PC. It's a power hog. When I get the server up I'll post a link to it in my profile.Iron Lightning said:Interesting, well if you get it worked out, do you mind letting me know?
Me and my cousins might play Hero Quest or Necromunda every now and then when we are all off Uni/work. Sadly most people don't care about the old school table top/board games.Maddenfreak said:So anyways, out of my entire town, me and my freinds seem to have the only dnd group going, and this town has over 5000 people in it.
