I stopped playing WoW like I've stopped playing a lot of MMO's that have come out since WoW.

It's a very boring game. The most important aspect of the game, the combat, is really really dull. It's uninspiring and typical. Even when it came out it was nothing but what everyone else was doing.

I mean, if the game was more about another aspect, or was part of an overall scheme of an MMO, then I'd be fine with it. The problem is that the combat is the most important part in that MMO, so it was pretty terrible.

And this is why I haven't really played an MMO since WoW.

Edit: Wow, I completely forgot about AoC. THAT was a good game. Too bad the content at 75+ was terrible =\.

I quit because I realised it wasn't fun any more.

I was paying to not have fun.

I'm so glad all my friends have quit now too (thought two had relapses when Wrath came out)

He he he he. i played it, realized that i would rather achieve something in real life and dropped it like it was season 2 of Heroes. (snip) You want to waste your time and money on it, you go right ahead, but all things considered i would rather go up in a Air-Ship, or travel from one side of my country to the other.

what it boils down to was a lack of interest & having way to many real things going on in real life to be bothered pretending to achieve things in a fictional one. I love computer games, but i like to know 10 hours from now i'm done & i can return to the real world & that the real world will still have something to offer me.
I hate to break it to you, but pretty much any game you play is going to be a waste of time. If you really did quit ALL video games to "go up in a Air-Ship, or travel from one side of my country to the other" then more power to you, but somehow I don't think that's the case.

I don't mean for this to come off as a personal attack or anything. I just think it's a little hypocritical when people (particularly other gamers) criticize the progression in WoW as being pointless. Of course it's pointless. It's a game. People play it to have fun, not to improve themselves as a person.

I have never played WoW. Probably Not a chance in hell I never will.
Fixed for me. I am not into MMO's and even if I were I'd never pay a monthly fee for a game I have already bought.

I quit during BC it just got boring not to mention my Guild during the summer turned into a 12 year old power trip so it really just became annoying at that point.

I started playing in December of '08, after years of not wanting to give it a try.

It was a lot of fun. Granted, my first char was a warrior, and I didn't realize that warriors=total suck. Then they nerfed Titan's Grip, so I stopped playing him.

I made a DK, got to 80...and then got bored. I have no desire whatsoever to play at the moment. All I have to look forward to is raiding...raiding...and, um, raiding. I don't even get xp anymore, so all that time I'm putting in just feels like a waste. I didn't like the guilds I was seeing ("Beep Beep I'm a Jeep"? "Double Pits to Chesty"?) I made my own Teutonic Order.

I've run out of stuff to keep the game interesting.

My month ran out in April, and I haven't bought another card since. I went back to playing Diablo II.

I find it insufferable boring but this is how it goes for me. Play for one month, stop for two months, rinse and repeat.

Played from a few months into TBC and until 3 months ago.
Just got bored with it, endgame raiding turned into a massive chore, and I never got the taste for PvP (although, it was better in WotLK imho).'
The achievement system was great though, and WotLK was beyond awesome!
Might pick it up again in the future, but it'll be awhile.

I just realised in my raiding that once you are stuck in the basically kill this by doing this I got very depressed and realised the game was affecting my daily life. I am so glad Im no longer addicted.

I actually bought the battle chest a little over a week ago. I'm having a blast leveling up my warlock, and I just got to 31. I'm having fun, and I guess that's all that really matters, right?

I used to raid a lot in the original WoW. I quit during BC because returning to level grind + gear I worked my butt off to get got replaced in 5 levels was simply BS.

The gear obtained from Naxx and such should have at the least been Low-Middle/Middle-Ground gear at 70, instead it was replaced by Green Drops at 65.

It just ruined the game and ruined my sense of accomplishment, which is really all MMOs have going for them, sense of accomplishment.

Never touched it again.
