No, I'm a responsible person who doesn't lie to his workplace to play games.

I have to say it's really childish and irresponsible to do that, I get you enjoy games but it is no reason to not show up to work just for your own enjoyment.

It's not like you can't play the game when you go home.
The only reason most people go to work is so they can have money to buy things they enjoy. Your logic is invalid.

No, the day Skyrim out I was legitimately sick. And I did not touch the game for 3 days...the flu sucks. If I miss a day then I have a lot to catch up on, games are for after school and the weekend

Nope. Funny enough, the one game I may have considered skipping classes to play, Skyrim, came out on a Friday, my one free day.

And there was much rejoicing.

Nope, because I'll always have time to buy and play later. Sure,Ill buy it first opprotunity, and play it to Hell and back, but I'll never bail on work or school to do so.

You just play through the night of release and shamble to work next day a caffeine zombie.

At least that's what I do whenever I get a new game.

I certainly don't take sick days for a game, in fact I've never taken a day off due to illness in my entire time working. I've never been sick enough to warrant it, and my job is too important to dump extra workload on my colleagues. The act reeks of selfishness and lack of responsibility in my opinion.

I don't take holiday either, games are always available whereas only a limited amount of time is granted to go abroad and such.

No, I don't take sick days for anything unless I have a symptom that makes it impossible to do my job. (Like violent diarrhea when your required to sit in a chair for 3 hours) Don't take sick days for games or for my Wife's convenience.

I would say I would take vacation days, but I only get 2 weeks and most of that is dedicated to holidays, birthdays, anniversary, ect.

I feel like less of a gamer now. ME 3 is coming out tomorrow and I gotta work.

Even as a student, I actually haven't(for that specific reason).

I just didn't sleep when Skyrim came out.

Not really, no. That's what my days off are for, when the people I go hang out with are busy.

Your own logic is kind of...stupid. Matthew94's logic is perfectly valid. A responsible adult does their job, and doesn't flake out on it simply because they want to play that brand new video game. It makes you look very unreliable and irresponsible.

As much as I would like to do this,I would never use excuses for my health in order to play a game.
Alas I was very sick last Saturday and now I have the whole week free.Yesterday I was preparing to go to school, but my parents made me go to the doctor.

PS: Captcha: veymov 108-114 <- As Eastern European I find that quite appropriate. Also inb4 assumption that I'm Russian.

Not so far, and if I was going to I would use a vacation day. Sick days are not just extra vacation days.

I've done it once with WoW:WotLK. I took a few days off....2 I think. I needed to take the time off anyway as I was hitting the vacation day cap at work. It just happen to work out well with the release of the game. Haven't done it since but it could happen again because I'm once again close to the cap.

Nope, and even though the thought is tempting, I have to go to school/work no matter what game comes out on that day. Mass Effect 3 will be no different despite the fact I've been looking forward to it for a while now.

Thankfully that's what pre-orders are for. Who's stupid now?

Yep, I've done it a few times.

When Halo 2 came out, some friends and I who, at the time were obsessed with Halo, went to the midnight release then took the day off to play it together.

When World of WarCraft: Burning Crusade came out I skipped a single class because I underestimated how many copies the local stores would have and overestimated how fast they'd sell.

When Fallout 3 came out my roommate and I, both huge Fallout fans, took the day off from our classes.

When Deus Ex: Human Revolution came out, I took the day after its release off from work to play it. That day also happened to be my birthday, so there was that too.

So if I contracted you for a job and then you felt bored and didn't show up, would you think that was perfectly acceptable?

When you sign up for a job and you don't do it for a shitty reason it reflects really badly on your character.
Oh no, my entirely made-up concept of my ego is going to be threatened by missing a day of work.

Nope. Although I did skip my first class the day that the Orange Box came out. I started playing HL 2: Ep 2 for a while when it unlocked on Steam and then was gonna go to bed but I wanted to check out Portal quick before heading off to dreamland. Well, three hours later I beat the game.

Now, I may take vacation days if a game is coming out I want to play. I won't take sick days and jeopardize my chances at promotions however.

Or you know, your colleague's and employer's opinion of you could be damaged and then that

douche bag in marketing gets the promotion that you should have. Or else you just don't want

to ever move up in life. Or maybe you're already a millionaire to which I say; touche, sir.
