I sure know I do, Porcupine Tree, Between The Buried and Me, Dream Theater, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Megadeth and Muse in one year! What's even more surprizing is the fact that none of them were dissapointments, to me, at least. It's almost too good to be true. I don't follow the charts all that much, so I have no idea if pop music has been as horrible as the last couple of years, but from my taste of music it has been a fantastic year.

Muse is enough to make it a fantastic year for me, that and Pendulum/deadmau5's remixes <3!

Yeah it was a pretty great year.

Can't wait to hear the hottest 100 (for those of you in Australia).

I have detailed my feelings on music this year before, and I stand by hatred of most of it.

Man, I can't wait for all the classic rock guys to come in and rage against all the pop stuff that was out this year =P

Muse, The Prodigy, Hilltop Hoods, Three Days Grace, Rob Thomas and Placebo have all contributed to making my 2009 a bright and happy glowing ball of wintacular awesomeness.
Breaking Benjamin did their part...but...they were kind of disappointing.

I'm still reeling from the awesomeness of Disturbed, SlipKnot and The Butterfly Effect from LAST YEAR. Music is just so win for me this year.

I won't let anything spoil this!

Bands like JLS and singers like Lady GaGa make me want to cry. David Bowie must be turning in his (non-existant) grave!

For me, Megadeth's Endgame was enough to make it fantastic. And we got World Painted Blood to wait for, too. Yeah, It's great!

If they hate it so much I don't see why they bother checking it out.
So you lot don't fill the poll up with "It was great".
Not much point in a poll that not everyone takes.
I was just responding to Zen, and if I did give a damn about pop music I'm sure I'd find the recent years as bad as you, but since I don't care about pop music and I'm a proghead and progressive music has been doing well recently I consider the year a great one.

Not really. Mika Miko split up. Sad face. They did release an album though and Comanechi have their first album out in a couple of weeks.
Let's see what else I got this year. Kasabians album was disappointing. The Prodigys album was awful, as was Placebos. Dizzee Rascal has had better. Arctic Monkeys album was bland but then so has all their albums. The Arkhams one was pretty cool though, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs one was cool too. Muse weren't really disappointing because I expect them to jerk off to their new fanbase from that awful Black Holes and blah-di-blahs. OoS was their last good album.

None of that matters though because MIKA MIKO SPLIT UP. Gah. Let's hope that Comanechis album will fill the void Mika Miko left.

2009 was a fantastic year for music, if you knew where to look.

It's been pretty bad for the last 9 years at the least. You have to go back to the 80's or the 70's to find an era of good music. There is newer music that is good, but it all drowns in the bad music, and sadly that is the music that seems to get popular... at least where I live. I have enjoyed 2009, but I guess that's mostly because I got to see Rise Against live, but they haven't had any major releases this year. Thousand Foot Krutch made an appearance though and that wasn't bad.

Yep. With albums from Gallows, The Ghost of a Thousand, Alice in Chains, Dead Swans, Architects and Them Crooked Vultures I'd say it's been a pretty good year. Much better than I expected.

Bring Me The Horizon on the other hand... poor show. Very poor show. Proof that yet again remix albums are a BAD IDEA!
