I always hope when I get into some heated debate, even the ones where it seems like the whole forum vs me, that someone is reading my words in the dark quietly, understanding what I am saying. It sucks to argue about the bad stuff religion does and be considered a bigot for it (which is ironic or something). So I hope a reasonable person understands why I hate having my rights restricted and being called a evil person for say, liking who I like or wanting to be something besides what soem book says is right.

I'm the kind of person that people come to with their problems in real life. And apparently, I somehow manage to spit out something that they needed to hear, typically with as pleasant a presentation I could make for it.
I suppose people feel like I don't judge them, or I'm somehow safe. I can't say that I don't form my own opinions about people, but regardless of how I feel about their actions, I try to treat people with respect and a healthy degree of empathy.

I haven't said anything timeless to rock the people to their core, or something like that, but I know I have said things to a few people that have had an effect on their life to this day.

I dunno, but I'd have to say that nobody cares to listen to me. I prefer that, since I'm a man of action, and not words. When people talk to me, it's usually to ask me something, and vice versa. Or when I need to get information out.

Or to solve math problems...

Only when I'm the OP really. I prefer real life discussions to forum discussions because I can hit my friends when they're being stupid.
Also I agree to this Guy (about the hitting part) you can't puch someone through the internet

Yes, surprisingly enough. On the odd occasion that I say something.

The poor sods. If they only knew how little of a clue I have...

You know it's funny because I thought about that little while ago. I've really started to notice how impersonal and distant this forum is compared to a few others I've been on. Maybe it's because there is a very large number of people here.

In real life people prostrate themselves at my feet waiting to hear my divine word. Or something silly like because I am able to amuse myself by saying whatever I want. No one pays much attention.

Of course they do! If they didn't listen to me, why would they spend their time with me?

Only in serious situations. I'm very persuasive when I need to be, and I speak with clarity when giving advice. More often than not I'm not serious however, and that's the way I like it.

EDIT: I had intended to mention that this was the state of my day to day life and not how I view myself on The Escapist or the internet in general.

The people I'm around do, as I don't talk all that often.

A wise man speaks when he has something to say. A fool babbles because he must say something.
I was about to say I babble in real life but only when I have something important to say. This would have been a paradox to your quote if I hadn't checked the definition of babble. Otherwise I would have been a "wise fool".

When I checked the different definitions for babble, I realized that babble isn't only mumbling but also mind-less talking. I guess I should instead say I mumble and not babble, although I'm ususally not aware of my mumbling.
Ah, but brevity is the soul of wit.
Indeed, according to Dictionary.com =D

In real life and with online friends, sure, some listen to me, but most of the time--even when I'm being listened to--I feel as if it just in through one ear and out through the other. My opinions, and they are few, almost always seem ignored.

On here, I find my comments are lost in the masses.

In real life they do, because I don't hang around people that much, and when I do I don't really say that much, especially if I am not that emotionally invested in the conversation at hand. On The escapist I get quoted often enough that makes me think that people tend to read what I have written.

In real life, I know that I've made a noticeable impact on at least a few people (and I seem to be valued for my unorthodox perspective on many things in life, even though some of my views aren't all too healthy and sound).

On this forum (or any other for that matter), I don't think my voice really matters at all. I find that I gain far more from my words myself than anyone else would.

Nope, people don't listen to me. I especially hate it when people interrupt me when I'm talking to say something unimportant and irrelevant to person I'm talking to.[footnote]As in, "Hey, btw, did you see that mecha anime I was talking about?" when I'm talking about, I don't know, flowers or something.[/footnote] Shit, I'm getting upset just thinking about it 'cos it happens all the time. I'm such a crybaby...

I sometimes think I should take a vow of silence for a year just so I don't have to feel that way for a good while, but that would inconvenience people. Catch 22 or something.

... Aaaaaand you guys aren't listening to me are you? Ah fuck it Dx
