On this forum and every other forum I've ever frequented I'm pretty much ignored. In real life people who know me fairly well value what I have to say, but for the most part I'm ignored there too. It's kind of surprising though because I'm usually able to help when people do listen but that doesn't seem to make them pay more attention to me in the future. I don't let it get to me though. If people choose to ignore me it's their loss :)

Debateable on forums, since I usually stay pretty distant for the most part. So I don't really know to be honest. In real life I would say so, I have a lot of good conversations with my girlfriend/friends/whatever.

No. In real life I'm rarely confident or liked enough to be listened to, and on the Internet by posts tend to end up as TL:DR fodder. Oh how I hate that particular abbreviation.

Yes, some people seem to think very highly of me and what I think, but I tend to think even higher of them.

Sometimes I still stay away from certain conversations, however, to a lot of people's surprise and sometimes even disappointment, because I sometimes feel I really, really need to think things through before I speak, and to be honest, sometimes I have trouble expressing myself completely and fully in speech. I am a bit more a thinker than I am a conversationalist, but I enjoy both of them as much.

The people I'm around do, as I don't talk all that often.

A wise man speaks when he has something to say. A fool babbles because he must say something.
I think I fall into the latter part of that phrase.

No, but after a 2x4 to the head, they usually start to listen if they dont black out and lose consciousness first.

oka, all joking aside, I dont know. In person, usually tehy do, but thats cause I wait for someone to talk to me before I talk to them. On line, its harder to know.

Maybe not here, but then again I haven't been active on the Escapist for a long, long time.
IRL: Yes, quite often. I'm good at providing fresh perspectives, a quality that usually makes people stop in their tracks and think before they speak again. During debates, I never talk unless I have something intelligent to say.

In real life yes, I seem to be the friends that's full of knowlage.

On-line, maybe, depends. The Escapist i very busy so it's hard to "listen" to everyone.

I don't usually talk, so when I do I'm typically ignored. Can't blame them though, sometimes I don't even understand what the fuck just came out of my mouth. That or they're all to busy with each other to notice me. But a lot of my closer friends tend to be interested in what I say since it's easier to make jokes around them and they've found I'm pretty good at giving advice.

AS for online...not unless I have something they found interesting, perhaps true in their eyes, or simply want to use what I said to emphasize a point me to make a point.

There are 2 factors. Sometimes my ADD brain presents way too much extraneous info and meanders to the point, which is something I continually work on, and some people just don't care because they're only interested in listening to people who only confirm the narrow worldview they already hold. Very often, particularly in circles where I'm fairly popular, these idiots expect me to just crack jokes and get irritated with me the moment I say something serious. I'm an armchair comic, dipshit, not a court jester!

Pretty much everyone else listens to me.

I doubt anything I say has any weight in anyone's minds except maybe weak willed children on the internet trying to troll me.

Oh God, no. I always have friends that ask me for advice. Then, they completely disregard everything I said. And later, they come and tell me that they should have listened to me.

I'm sure others have this issue, but it really is annoying. Why keep asking me, if you're just gonna ignore what I say?

This poll needs some middle ground.

By saying Yes, I feel I am making a sweeping generalization.
By saying No, I feel I am being ungrateful in not recognizing those who do.

Some do, but I hardly ever get the feeling that even they listen to me entirely, or ask me more about something I'm really excited over to talk about. It's pretty lame.

At work, a certain amount of my co-workers do as I tell them to, regardless of the fact I have no actual technical authority other than being there longer than them. It helps I am ten years, at least, older than most of them.

I tend to end up in leadership positions in most things I do outside of work, unfortunately I often don't want to be.
