The poll results are absolutely hilarious. I guess I'm below average since all these ridiculously intelligent people are driving the average up.

According to a test I took more than a decade ago my IQ was higher than average eight year old.

Like that matters.

I hate when people boast about their IQ without even understanding it properly.

"I have an IQ of 130!"
"Oh, what test did you take?"
"What?"
"What test did you take? Depending on the test, that could be either shit-smart or shit-for-brains."
"Oh, I don't know."
Oh, nevermind, do you know what percentile you were in?"
"...."

Slightly more OT: I don't remember my IQ, but I remember I was in the 98th percentile, based on a test I took in college. I know it's pathetic, but I hate knowing that there are people smarter than me, stronger than me, fitter than me, etc.

I want to be the very best....

I do not know.
Assuming that I were, Even if I had a plaque that said I were I feel would be rather presumptuous.

Each individual usually has a few skill sets in which they exceed. It might be practical like being an expert carpenter or it might be something more to do with problem solving or philosophy. It's all down to the individual basis. So measuring an IQ would only show so much about a few skill sets and isn't really applicable to the whole range of people and their skills.

Never tried a proper IQ test, but my guess is lower. Why? There's lots of shit involving numbers in an IQ test, and I just can't freakin' deal with numbers. Doesn't mean I'm not smart, I think, hence why I think IQ tests are generally bullshit.

Well I got put up a grade in grade school and still topped my classes. I'm now in university and have gotten a high distinction in every assessment I've done, so I'd wager my IQ is probably a bit above average. Though ultimately I always have and still do study really hard; IQ is kind of just a stupid number without that.

Haven't actually gotten an IQ test though.

I have taken I.Q. tests and I have always scored above-average. Though, I've never truly trusted those types of tests, because depending on the test, the scoring was all over the place. On a majority, I always scored between 110-120. So even if I was above-average, it's not by a huge amount. Despite the tests, I think I am pretty much average; and I am okay with that.

My parents told me I got a 130 when I was younger. I never saw it myself so I can't say for sure. I'm smarter than most people I know but that doesn't hold much credit...

I score on average about 115, slightly above average but I don't think IQ really counts for much to be honest.

The "average" person usually has an IQ of around 80-100, last time I took an IQ test I was around 140 so alot higher by using this method, smarts wise though I think Im above average but not by much.

Naturally higher than average due to my disorder, but to me real intelligence is measured by what you've done with your life, you could have a higher IQ than Steven Hawking but it woun't do you a damn bit of good if you're bagging groceries for a living.
Intelligence doesn't automatically bring success, hell most jobs rely far more on your ability to get on with cooworkers/customers/suppliers/whoever else might happen to have an input on how well you do your job. Intelligence alone will get you a nice looking degree which will either get a good job if it's practical or make for good last ditch loo roll.

I agree that IQ tests are a load of crap but intelligence isn't the primary factor in success by any means. It's perfectly possible to simultaneously be a genius and stack shelves at tesco, it's still there even if you don't do anythign with it.

I got a gold medal in this year's Senior Maths Challenge (if I recall correctly, bronze, silver and gold are awarded to the top 40% of entrants in a 3:2:1 ratio, so that puts me in the top six and two-thirds percent of mathematicians my age), and I scored only one mark less than twice the average score in the European Kangaroo, and I know I did badly in that paper. I'm going to say that makes me smarter than the average person.

My IQ is about 200.

That is not a good thing because I'm also borderline psychotic.
Eh, which test did you get that result in? 200 is higher than most adult IQ tests even go and child IQ tests are rather unreliable since they factor in mental age and actual age into the equation and so can come out with ridiculously high scores which aren't maintained into adulthood.

The average IQ for most other people is around...120, if I recall correctly. So if you know you've rated higher, good for you. I know I've rated higher numerous times at above 130, so I can't really complain.
