I think knowledge and "wisdom" wise? Maybe...

As for acting like an idiot? No, don't really do that... So I think my answer would be yes.

I've heard that on almost all of tests, whether you put in intelligence, attractiveness, skill at something etc... you'll always get well above 50% of responders saying they are above average. We like to think highly of ourselves, and on the Escapist where most posters pride their own perceived intelligence, I expect the "above" result will be far higher still.

For me, I'd love to modest and say I'm average but I go to a highly respected UK university which at the moment hangs around the 9th to 15th top in the country (within top 200 in the world), so even without bias I must be above average.
That very Idea is biased, I guess this isn't a college that holds courses on critical thinking(last paragraph). And I would say my "intelligence" is below average, where as what education I can still call on is genuinely false or just out of date, like having nine inner planets.
I don't see the bias. Unless you're implying that the entire UK has an average intelligence well below the average of the world, I don't see how someone of below average intelligence could beat the majority of his peers in the exams required to get into a top uni. Yes, knowledge =/= intelligence but without some intelligence I wouldn't have obtained so much knowledge in the first place.

Oh, I'm definitely way below average. I'm in school right now, and I suppose that I could, if I worked extremely hard at it(much more work than I'm willing to put into school), get A's and B's, but I'm much to lazy to do something like that. I have a poor work ethic, and I'm lazy. Not unhelpful, but lazy whenever possible and I generally don't like to take initiative. I'm definitely not one of those children that gets bad or average grades because they aren't challenged enough, I am just not very bright. Although I could excel in school, I still suck in being social most of the time and understanding real-world concepts. If someone is trying to subtly hint at something, such as my fly being down, I will be as thick as a brick until they hold my hand and walk me through whatever they are trying to say. I'm also forgetful, and not good at forming relationships beyond friendships. So yeah, below average.

I don't "think" I'm of more than average intelligence, I "Know" it, I figure things out almost instantly, when others around me take for fucking ever, I retain what I learn and use it creatively with ease, and when it comes to adaptiveness to situational variables and conversational subject matter, I'm a fucking social cameleon, which makes me wonderful as a salesperson, as I overload people with positive facts about what I want to sell people based on my judgement of a person through small talk before I try my pitch.

I'm not the best when it comes to grammar on forums, I will admit.

And no I don't think I'm a supergenius, just I've seen way way too much evidence in my life to suggest I'm a cut above most people when it comes to creativity, problem solving, pattern recognition, and situational analysis(usually for the purpose of avoiding hazards, and maximizing my proffit/loss ratio).

Also I find average people extremely annoying, and they always ask me for my opinion or try to get me to fix their stuff all the time, or like teach them stuff... I help who I want to help, and usually the people I help are the people I'm already friends with, and the only reason they need help most of the time is because they need a few extra hands for moving furnature or basic things that ANYONE who doesn't have robo minions or the like will need a bit of help with, after all moving a piano is not generally easy for one person, especially if you don't want to damage it or anything else in the process.

Also to be fair about this poll, you're asking an online community, more specifically the escapist community, the poll only accounts for a tiny portion of people of which all of them can obviously use a computer, and comprehend complex concepts to some extent, such as the internet...
If the polls read more people thinking themselves less than average, I would be deeply troubled at the state of this world.

If I applied myself then I would be waaaaaaaaaaaaay above average but then I went and became a musician; applying myself only to that category. But to be fair, I'm pretty good at what I do!

I actually know I'm of 'well above average' intelligence. I was tested REPEATEDLY during my childhood, and one final time during Grade 10. The testing confirmed my intelligence in various ways that I really couldn't care less about.

Funny thing, though, while I actually do consider myself to be more intelligent than the average person these days, it took me twenty years of denial and trying to be 'normal' to accept it.

Now, it doesn't really bother me. I don't associate with enough humans to be considered an 'intellectual' by the majority because I prefer they think of me as a bit dull or, as was the case in High School, mentally retarded...

I voted below average because while there are certain areas in which I really shine, for the most part I'm a raging dumbass.

After seeing the results: Some people have a pretty big ego. I could post paragraphs on why I should be considered above average but hey I face it, I excell at few subjects outside of history and literature. So I am not above average I'm below it.

You know you're a psychology major when a thread like this makes you furious and depressed all at once.

Either way, my IQ is 130. Since the average IQ is 100, I am above average.

I can be somewhat clever at times, and had around a 135 IQ score when I took the test. Considering that, I would probably say that I'm smarter than the average.

That doesn't mean too much though - there's more to this world than intelligence, and even the dumbest person has the chance to see something that the smartest person overlooked. Humanity is roughly equal; that is to say that every person has the chance to beat any other person, whether using guile, strength, wit, etc etc.

Depends who the average is, what I mean is if you take every person into account (like people in uneducated country, cites, towns) the average intelligence will decrease. Although different people will always excel in certain areas, while someone else could be completely inept at school subjects, but could be knowledgeable in nature or something along those lines. Theres this great scene in "six feet under" where George decides to clip the branches of his wife's tree because they are rapidly growing all over the place. Now George is a geologist and is quite intelligent. He is constantly correcting Ruth in this almost child like manor. Now Ruth finds out he clipped the branches and is devastated. Ruth says the branches won't grow back anymore and the tree will die a slow death. George says it will heal and grow back in time, but Ruth knows that it won't and criticizes him for such a stupid mistake

I'll admit it, I checked the results before voting. Now, obviously no one would EVER lie on the internet, so I voted below average, as 90% is a pretty high ratio to be above average.
That being said, given some of the people who think they're above average, I shudder to think what below average is if they're right.

Everyone *thinks* they're more intelligent than the G Pop.

But lets face it. Only half of everyone is. Theres a good chance that you are not in this elite crew.

I feel like I'm more intelligent than the average person. To me, this is made evident because I am able to understand things exceptionally well and form my own opinions regardless of societal influence. Intelligence comes from being able to understand and think independently, both of which I do well.

My main issue is that my emotions occasionally get in the way.

Intelligent as in IQ or intelligent as in knowledge?

My IQ is 170-ish. Which I think might be good but I don't know how they score those things.

It's been a while since I took the IQ test, was done in high school due of my Aspergers. From what I remember, everything was reletively average, but my spatial relations was Superior (135-139 I think) and my processing was dull (80-84 or so).

I'd have to check it again though to make sure, but that's all I remember.
