Intelligent as in IQ or intelligent as in knowledge?

My IQ is 170-ish. Which I think might be good but I don't know how they score those things.
I explain what I mean by intelligence in the OP. Also 170 is a VERY high IQ, I'm pretty sure that puts you well in the genius range. Congrats.

I have a sheet of paper that definitively proves I am more intelligent than at least 89% of the U.S.

Thing is, I kind of doubt anyone cares.

to be completly honest?

NO..not at all....however I also know that we tend to overestimate ourselfs..alot

but no.....and how would you measure that?...

years ago I took all kinds of IQ tests onlne..ranging from 99 to 120 so theres really no way of knowing
most online iq tests dont work ive tried 3 first one was 60 second was 150 third 130
exactally..and even more reliable IQ tests..what do they really tell us?

Im a little unsre on the IQ thing..if the average is 100 then does that mean having an IQ of 100 makes you rather dumb? (kind of like gamescores..now a 7/10 is considered terrible?) then again has the average gone up or down?

I also read an article on the Idea of child geniouses...having IQ's of 130+ who got to go to special schools...yet most of them didnt go on to be brilliant minds that changed the world

mabye IQ alone isnt going to spell sucess or failure?...I dont know
iq isnt even a reliable way to see intelligence some very smart people are below average for iq and if the average is 100 having 100 means that you are normal having 130 means nothing really to be a genius i believe you have to be above 150

It would seem you are lying or ill-informed.

If you took a random online IQ test, the results are worth nothing.

If you took an IQ test in person with a doctor or psychologist, you would have been informed how the test works, how they score the test and what your IQ results mean. They also take quite a long time.

Source: lots of experience with this issue.

As someone who consistently scored high distinctions on Science competitions I feel my intelligence must match my ego so I declare that it's through the fucking roof. On a side note, I wouldn't expect a 50:50 split because we are gamer/nerds here and we generally tend to be smarter than the average person who goes around mocking us because we don't fall for their follies of cool. And we think we are awesome. Blame achievements.

I'm not one to think I'm super smart or anything, but I'm pretty certain I'm at least above average, or at least what the standardized tests always told me, hah.

Well IQ tests are only an indicator of how well you do IQ tests. I have only done a formal one when I was 12 (with a person who adjudicated and questioned me), still in primary school and I got a 144, but I assume that was a relativistic thing. So it may have gone up or more likely down in the last decade.

But do I think I'm more intelligent than the average person? Yes I do. Not out of any arrogance, but more that having completed four years of medicine I hope I'm a least that smart, otherwise it's a critical comment on Australia's university system.

Intelligence has nothing to do with how 'smart' you are or how knowledgable you are, but more to do with how you can solve problems or see things. I would consider myself quite educated, since I have been to college and currently in my final year at university.

As for Intelligent, I'd say I was bellow average. My mother isn't very educated but give her a puzzle to solve and she does it easily, in fact her IQ is probably higher than mine.

I agree with this, education =/= intelligence.

There are varying forms of intelligence; logical, abstract, social, musical, physical (ie coordination) etc.

I think everyone ends up average across all 'intelligences'.

I would happily say I'm average; I've my strengths and my weaknesses, just like everyone else!

Standardized tests generally only reveal good memory, not intelligence, so I wouldn't really use those as a standard to rank intelligence against!

I see myself as below average, though I like to credit myself with a realistic point of view of things.

*Looks at poll*
90% thinks he's above average.
Yeah, right.

What is the standard measure of intelligence these days? Is it still visual logic puzzles or does it include maths?

I've never actually taken an IQ test, so I'm afraid I can't answer your question. I scored in the top 5% of British schoolchildren on numerical and spatial reasoning, and the top 20% in verbal reasoning. I have a first class honours degree in engineering and passed my masters course with a distinction.

So I'm above the average (for a British citizen) in all of that stuff. But I don't know what - if anything - that says about my intelligence!

I don't know, I want to say above average because I'm an egotist and I've done tests where I've beat about 70% of the people in my state. But! Intelligence isn't just an academic thing. In all honesty, I'm probably average intelligence.
