So I've noticed a slightly growing trend of people who refuse to buy anything except
First-Party products. Is it because of Quality, reliability, or something else? Tell me if you buy Third-Party merchandise or stick solely to first-party products, and Feel free to explain why.

I bought a 3rd party cooling system for my 360. It works pretty well but I've never heard of the brand at all.

If it is something simple, like a replacement stylus for my DS then third-party is fine. However with something a bit more expensive, like even a new controller, I tend to go first-party. I feel the quality is better.

You're not alone. I usually tend to do the same.

I usually tend towards first-party controllers and such. However, my major exception has been the Logitech wireless PS2 controllers...those things are sweet. Also my Logitech Harmony remote for Xbox 360.

Hell, basically anything Logitech makes, I like. :D

No. You get what you pay for; third party controllers are jerky, delicate, and unreliable.
Indeed, i bought a third-party Xbox 360 headset, and it died within a month, my original lasted three years.

Controllers - Yes.

Anything else - No.

PC parts are the worth for this, people who spend £200 on RAM with IDENTICAL specs to some £90 RAM, except it's got a different brand sticker on it. Jeez people!

Controllers imoa re justified, because they have the ergonomic factor to consider, and third party controllers feel like a cheap toy. I guess technically they are a cheap toy, anyway.

Pretty much what everyone else said. For big stuff, I go official, but for the little things, I don't really care. With the exception, of course, of my Nyko intercooler for my 360. Ironically, you have to go with third-party and not trust the official hardware to work without that crucial piece of equipment.

I got a wireless controller for Christmas for my PS2 like 4 years ago made by Mad Catz, but about every half hour the controls would stop working and I would have to move the channel switch back and forth until it worked. And I did try it on the other channels and it worked worse. It was mostly a joystick problem. I have another Mad Catz controller for same. But it had extreme vibration so heavy that part of the back controller broke off and fell into the controller. Then it had 2 buttons, digital and macro which had no real effect on gameplay.

I wouldn't use it exclusively. I would only get it as a 2nd or 3rd controller (the one that the guests use). My controller must be first party at all times.

For my N64, I only bought 3rd party supplies. They were ironicly more reliable than Nintendo's stuff. Nowadays I only buy from companies I trust. I will never buy a controller that isn't a 360 controller ever again - not because it's first party, but because it is the most comfortable controller I've ever used.

As for playstation controllers... they're all crap that sore my fingers - both first and third party.

Yes. Every time I have ever bought third party merchandise it has broken in a minim of four days.

The only Third Party controller I could ever recommend was the Wave Bird for the Gamecube.

But that was with Nintendo.
