My app has marvellous user interface, a wonderful storage system and a real old time feel to it.

Yeah I read real books.

In addition to what I said before I like my Kindle because of the little touches such as the ability to store PDF and word documents, and being able to instantly look up a word in the dictionary.
Are you serious?
I'm downloading My Immortal right now.
Very serious.

This is my serious face

I have a Nook, that I got for Christmas, I haven't started using it, because I'm still trying to go through the other books that I got as presents.

Wait- it's not working.

I put the file in the documents section via my PC, and it's not showing up.

I got a Kindle just out of curiosity (as I do with most of the things I buy) and I think it's great. Sure I can see people's point of view on the whole 'feel of the actual book' thing, I still buy paper books (albeit manga, but the point remains valid) but for convenience's sake I prefer my Kindle.

Also don't get a skin, get a cover. The Amazon ones are expensive (and the ones with lights in are rip-offs), but it stops it getting scratched or damaged, and look good. I've got a black one.
Agreed. The light in the case is good though, its much better than those spotlights that are above your seats in planes.

I like the Kindle, but the store has so little availability. My tastes as a reader are pretty narrow, and they usually have next-to-none of the book's Im looking for.
Example: I'm gonna go check for a book called "The Golem's Eye" that I lost years ago, right now.
Checking...
Nope, not there. See what I mean?

Got a kindle for christmas. It's amazing and I love it! And non-retina scorching, which is pleasant! And it's already paid for itself with the free classics!

As a weird bonus, it uses the same charger as my phone...

Should work. I've done it (though not with Word documents yet). Have you tried e-mailing them to the Kindle over Wi-Fi?

I like the idea of the Kindle and similar readers; I really do. But sitting down with a good book is one of the few leisure activities I enjoy that doesn't involve staring at some kind of screen for hours on end, so I figure I should stick to hard copies. Besides, there's something still to be said for actually having a physical copy of a book in front of you.

I don't have anything like that currently. But I like to read, and I get tired of tripping over my books.

I would appreciate a device that eliminates the need to have the things lying around.

Yeah.
It's a great way of not having to carry around so many books on trips.
That's the issue my dad has with his car- he brings a lot of books that he might want to read, and leaves them there when he comes home, creating a mess.
I've helped him cut down, but him having his own Kindle might be really helpful.

At the moment I don't read books that often, so the Kindle wouldn't be worth the money. I'm absolutely fine reading off paper, and you get more of a feel of ownership.

If I get into reading a lot more I'll think about it though. I like the idea of having so many books in one place and being able to buy them online and stuff, and it'd probably pay off eventually.

No, I like to read the actual book, theres just a different feel :\
This is pretty much how I feel about it as well, I like having the paper between my fingers as I turn the pages.

No

Call me old fashioned, but I love the feeling of actually holding the pages and flipping them.

I don't know, but for me, it just adds something special to the whole experience of reading

I own a Sony Reader and I like it very much. The screen is very reminiscent of actual paper and because of the touch screen I can just swipe my finger across it to turn the page, although it is just as easy to push the button. I really like that I don't have to tire out my hand holding the book open as I read, especially if I am laying down.

I was interested in getting an e-reader because I read a LOT! My wife and I have about eight or nine shelves packed full of books with some others stored in tubs. There are still some books I prefer to purchase in the physical format, but with some of those, or with books I'm just taking a chance on, I like to have them on the e-reader because they take up no space that way. Also, I tend to reread books often, so having all my favorites in one spot is convenient, especially if I travel. Once I actually purchase all my favorites, at any rate. Hard to justify purchasing books I already own to myself...

You could always get the book elsewhere and convert it into kindle format. They're all just text files really but put into a stupid format to force you to use their store.

This is a free e-book convertor:
