It is impossible to play a game without using some sort of tactic.

Most of the time one is so focused on the screen that one just doesn't recognize it.

Tactics are a must for me. I enjoy outsmarting people, tricking them, out manuvering them, et al. When with friends, and they have devised a plan, I try to stick with it. Makes the game more fun for me.

I try to use tactics but I've never been too good at planning things out. Then again, if I'm playing co-op or with a team of people I know and play well with, we usually come up with a strategy. Usually works pretty well too. Especially in a FPS.

The guys I've played with and I used to play Laser Quest all the time when we were younger. We just use the same tactics we used back then. We rule.

Also, I never, ever use tactics when playing Final Fantasy: Tactics. That's just stupid.

I've played sports games with friends and done especially well. It wasn't always two human-controlled people at once (usually it was the other guy on offense and me on defense in football or baseball games), but a multitap combined with a hockey game and some friends was always a good time.

Any well-coordinated tactical assault with a group of players who are all on the same page is a delight. Run-and-gunners find themselves ignored or kicked.

I use a lot of tactics.
Especially on Tom Clancys: Endwar
My main one however is the imple surround/outflank manouver.
I will send small groups (always made up of some engineers, some APCs and some tanks) in different directions, down different tracks to capture objectives, and in the end surround the last objective.
It works most of the time.
Another good tactic is boxing the enemy in.
Just send some large groups of heavy armour to block the tracks and roads out of the enemy bases and then send other units to casually stroll around and capture the objectives, while you prevent the enemy from leaving the dropzone. The really good tacticians, wait till they see a deployment helicopter and then call in an airstrike on it while its unloading its troops.
I love strategy games
