Poll: Do you watch Let's Plays?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who watches LP's around here. Often times, if I'm short on cash or not interested enough to pay for a game, I'll hunt down a Let's Play of it to see if I'm missing anything.

For those of you that somehow have never heard of LP's, they're basically someone walking you through the game, playing it from beginning to end, often with running commentary from the person running the LP. Some LPers are becoming somewhat notable on Youtube, like Deceasedcrab and NintendoCapriSun, among many, many others. They can run the gamut from hilarious to informative, and I've lost many hours to them.

So, if you watch LP's, who are some of your favorites and why?

If you haven't, maybe you can get a few suggestions for some good ones from here. ^_^

I watch a couple, my favourite one has to be Spoony's one for SWAT 4, it's hilarious how irritated he gets by it.

"Sir, you're in my spot"

Other than that, I'll watch maybe one or two, but that's the only one that comes to mind.

Yeah, Spoony's pretty awesome, and I wish he'd do more videos like those, but I know he's extremely busy with all his other stuff, and LP's can eat up tons of time.

And his gradual hatred, then finally flipping out about the "Standing in my way, sir." thing was uproariously funny.

Yes. Yes I do. I'm watching a couple at the moment from games that I've already played to see how other people play them. One of them is the one chuggaconnroy is currently doing and another one is a Doom playthrough (i've never played Doom, leave me alone).

i watched a walkthrough for the entire big willy unleashed because i like destroy al humans but hate the wii. it didn't have commentary though.

Most LPs are boring, but i watched Daikatana, Persona 4 and Phantasmagoria 2. Probably one or two others that i can't remember. I'd watch more, if i could find some entertaining ones.

Any recommandations?

NintendoCapriSun and Deceasedcrab, as I mentioned before, are some of my favorites, because they're pretty entertaining with their commentary.

My favorites by Caprisun are his LP's of Super Mario Sunshine and Ocarina of Time.

Deceasedcrab's Monster Party one is pretty funny. I'm on part 4 of that one.

If you've never heard of Spoony, you'll thank us. His website, http://www.spoonyexperiment.com/ is where he reviews movies, games, and other geek stuff. He's also a partner with ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, but all his stuff premieres on his site first, mostly.

He's probably the closest to my own mindset and sense of humor, but he's only done a couple of what you could call legitimate LP's, Ripper, Phantasmagoria, and S.W.A.T. 4, with S.W.A.T. 4 being my favorite.

His reviews of other games are kinda like abridged LP's, with more of a focus on scripted jokes and stuff, but equally entertaining.

I prefer text and image based ones that I can consume at my own pace and not have to hear annoying people wittering.

One of my favorite LP's has to be Chuggaconroy's Mother 3 LP, it was informative thanks to the enemy infos and occasional tip like giving Boney the shield taker, well-made with custom chapter intros and ending, and you could tell that he enjoyed playing the game and took pride in making the best LP he could for it, which is more that I can say for other LPer.

Well for one, they aren't live. He records the footage, edits it and then posts the parts on a playthrough channel, then he and his co-commentator watch the parts together while on skype and he records the conversation. He then layers the skype over the playthrough footage and post the commentary on the commentary channel. Secondly he doesn't do 100% runs or speed runs, he just casually gets through the game and only does the stuff necessary to the story.
