The last game my dad touched was Resident Evil 2. Nowadays he regards gaming as a waste of time. Kind of upsetting considering that will be the majority of my summer.

My mom on the other hand is usually interested in whatever I play. She wants to try some games too but it's impossible while I'm at college. She's going to attempt Tales of Vesperia this summer.

I sat down with my dad and got him to play Portal for a while. He's a really smart guy but watching him struggle through the early levels is hilarious. ^_^

My Dad and I used to have Tetris competitions with each of us trying to beat each others high score on a PC version we used to have. Other then that, no.

Nah, but my dad was sitting next to me as I was playing Portal 2 last night and he thought it was pretty funny, so that's a step in the right direction.

My mom played casual games quite a bit. She actually bought 2 iPod touches (one was on sale really cheap) so she could charge one and use the other. She used to play some of the Atari games back in the day.

My dad tried to a couple times but could never get the hand eye coordination necessary for it nor does he have the patience anymore to develop it. He likes watching me play, particularly FPS games. Sometimes thats good sometimes thats bad.

My Dad, who recently hit 50, it a huge fan of the Total War series. And he's freakin' good at them. He even held competitions at his office, where he'd present a gaming PC to anyone who could beat him. No one ever did.

My mom plays browser puzzle games and Sims occasionally.

Nope. My dad said he never wants to go through the process of learning the game, and my mom just doesn't play them. She does play fitness games, like Just Dance and Wii Fit, but that's it.

My dad plays games like Oblivion and Fallout 3. He skipped simpler games, and often needs me to hold his hand... And my mom is all "GAMES ARE A BLIGHT! THEY WARP YOUR MIND! THEY RUIN YOUR LIFE!"

So...Games can be a touchy issue in the house.

My dad reacts to any game like I react to JRPG's...WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN-

My mom on the other hand just avoids games because she thinks they're too confusing. I'm trying to ween her back so she can get on Portal 1 and 2...but I doubt it's gonna work.

See both my mom and my dad used to be avid gamers. My mom would play nintendo games (back in the day, on the SNES and Gameboy), little arcade games. My dad covered games like Doom, Wolfenstein, Quake etc. I was introduced to games as being, the shiz. But then my mom got a full time job and stopped needing to entertain herself. My dad just got bored of samey brown shooters and often rage quits so he stopped playing. He know just sits in front of the TV all day (when he's not at work), commenting on every sport as if he was a specialist on everything...I think he even started ranting at a cake baking show...

My parents were once hard-core PC gamers back in the King's Quest days... they're the ones that got me into gaming in the first place.

These days they play less, though my dad 100%-ed Super Mario 64 before I did and has played through Resident Evil 4 more than 20 times :| He doesn't play many games but once he starts something he plays it to death.
And my mom has beaten every Zelda and Fire Emblem I own. She likes the more laid-back games, and is currently talking her sweet time playing Portal.

My mom used to go through arcades, my dad is the one who gave me his nes, and my stepdad just bought a years worth of everquest 2 subscription. They actually gave me mortal kombat back in the day. We had a nes, snes, 64, playstation 1, genesis and sega cd at one point, and they had a tv that had enough hookups to connect them all at once. Pretty sure thats where I started to game.

My dad plays the Serious Sam games, and he got me into games really.
Man, co-op Serious Sam on the harder difficulties is hilariously fun.
He also plays Defense Grid. He played more before, now he has less time to play. I'm trying to get him into Portal and Half-Life 2, but he won't, because he didn't like Half Life 1, or more specifically, the start. He doesn't do immersion. Maybe 2 will go better.

My dad doesn't play any games and is barely computer literate (he sort of fumbles through ebay)

as for my mom, she plays the solitaire/free cell games that came with vista as well as some hidden object games from Big Fish games. She also has a DS that she plays occasionally.
