I will usually read manuals on the ride home from the shops, unless they are the size of a small novel, eg. Civilisation 4, Diablo II

Maybe I will read it to get the backstory on the game or some stupid hotkey figured out. The best manual ever though was the Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos game manual. It was more of a book with about 100-200 pages or so.

If I have the manual I do if I'm bored, but usually it spoils things.

But it's usually good to do it so you can yell at your teammates for not knowing how to play and you can recite the manual lol.

I read the manual mainly for the history of the game or info on the units in the game
LOL, I do that too! I like to see the units, characters and vehicles page because i like to know what ill be facing. But I always read the manual. Just so I can get that feeling: "Yeah, i just skipped the tutorial... Thats coz im better than you, *****!"

Oh yeah. The place at which I've procured the game is generally a fair way away from my Xbox. I want to get into the game right there and then, but I can't, so looking at the manual is the best I can hope for.

It's part of my new game routine. I always read the manual, and always play all the tutorials.

I always read the manual, while waiting for the game to install. With this knowledge, it's easier for me to get into game :)

I ignore the controls, and head straight for the unit descriptions, back story, ETC.

I always read my manuals. Always. Because years ago, games rarely if ever took you by the hand and did tutorials on how to do every single fucking thing in the game. So distracting. Plus, the manual is great, gives you a head start on how to perform actions in-game and such. The only parts in my manuals I do not read (at first) are enemies and weapons dossiers. That just ruins the fun of what to expect.
