Yup, a racist who gives to charity is still a racist if its a direct choice.
I think everyone has a degree of racism in them but when its more than a sub conscious thing its bad.
I will unknowingly look at someone of a different skin colour and treat them differently and I hate it. To the extent of tiptoeing around the word "Black". It makes me feel like an asshole.

If hes being serious...hell yeah call him out on it! Mock him for being Ignorant and foolish! Although perhaps hes not being serious and is just a joke! someone who sees it in the same light as making fun of fat, skinny, ginger, big chinned, squeeky voiced etc...thats the way it should be! making it a taboo as the media does these days just makes it more attractive to ignorant stupid attention seekers who may then act upon it = making them bad people!!

Not so much a bad person, just a flawed person who has a few ignorances. If you actually act on your racism violently then you can be called a bad person but if you are just a little distrustful or uncomfortable it's still a little unnaceptable but it doesn't make you a bad person.

No they're being intolerent and should learn that we're all equal. Personally I'd take said friend around the corner and give him a hell of a talking to. To sum it up it would be along the lines of WTF DUDE?!?

Example of what im talking about in my previous comments.

Would you really TAKE hold of your "friend" march him round the corner and display the holy than thou attitude to him and explain to him how his kind cannot be tolerated?

Seriously?

Lets at least be truthful about this.

Personally I would 100% punch my friend in the face and I would tell him unless he changes his ways we cant be friends. He needs to apologize to me for making a remark about someone who does not come from the same cultural/ethnic background as myself.

10 years on and im still waiting.

Yes, it makes you a bad person. If you have a negative view of people based on their external appearance, you're shallow and I probably wouldn't be friends with a shallow person. If you have a negative view of an entire race based on your 'own experiences with them', you're willing to stereotype and generalise, and thus I probably wouldn't be friends with a person like that either. So the example is probably flawed in the OP.

A) Your poll needs more options. Right now it seems like you're looking for a legal loophole.
B) Stuck with the two options, yes, yes it is. Racism is possibly the most destructive force in the world today (apart from spurting oil, maybe). And any cop will tell you, ignorance is no excuse.

dude were all a little bit racist
This is an utter cop-out. Humans have an inner tendency towards bias, not racism. The unknown tends to be looked down upon. It's something to struggle with. But saying everyone is is merely a way to excuse one's own behavior, say "I am what i am", rather than trying to improve. Does anyone take the excuse "everyone else is doing it" seriously from someone older than six on any other issue? Then why take it on this one?

Racism implies a mixture of willful ignorance and irrational hatred.

So yeah, I guess that qualifies one as a "bad person".
I think I like you more with every post of yours that I see.

Disclaimer: Just so everyone knows, I am NOT trying to justify racism. I just don't want to put my own opinion in here in case it affects anyone's answer.
Not mine it doesn't. So feel free to share.

I'd say it doesn't become "evil" until they start taking malicious action because of these opinions.

Trying to change your friend's opinion of other races might affect your relationship with him/her. So I would let them be.

Besides, everyone's a little racist. I, for one, enjoy poking fun at racial stereotypes.

Im an ammoralist, I don't recognise good or evil. So someone being racist couldn't possibly make them a "bad" person for me. In the same way that someone giving a million dollars to charity wouldn't make them a "good" person.

Racism = Bad in any form.

Evil = subjective, varying from culture to culture.

Generally, if I find someone like that that acts with good intentions but is still hateful of people simply because of the melanin content of their skin, I will ridicule them for their ignorance as they ridicule others for their ethnicity.

I happen to be Lebanese and I did in fact receive a lot of ignorant slurs and insults from white people on 9/11. It just further fueled my annoyance with the ignorance that we allow to go on in America. It's made me hateful likewise, but not against everyone else. There are signs I look for with people that I choose to hate and it has nothing to do with their skin color, it's how big of a chauvinist backwards ignorant asshole they are.

If they're gonna stand there and call me "towel head" or "sand ******" in a serious hateful manner then fuck them, I hope they die before for their time. The world is better off without failed abortions like them and their neanderthal brain activity. They deserve every shortcoming and defeat in left they get.

Other than that, I'm an okay person to get along with. I enjoy racial humor with it's meant simply as that: humor. Good fun, lighthearted ethnic jokes from people that appreciate the meaning to it. Generally, this is other ethnic people or white people that wish they weren't so white.
