Are you saying that the majority of gamers are males, without a sex life?
Damn Straight, look at Dead or Alive, it makes a ton of money for a mediocre fighting game.

In short: Yes.

Think about action movies. Pumped full of manly adrenaline, plus a scene in which the protagnist bones the hot female lead. Sex sells. Not just the ACT of sex, but sexuality overall.

Transformers, some guys went just to watch megan fox again. <_< really. Think about in Trans2 how in her intro scene she was provacatively leaning over a bike airbrushing it. (Which my boyfriend, highly annoyed said "That's the dummest way to paint a bike I've ever seen, that's not even the right size nozzle to be spraying with")

Big Boobs=sells.
No boobs= sad people.

Well, while many people probably won't buy a game solely for sex, but I think it helps. For me, it's just the same if a game contains nudity or not.

Hard to say. From the female perspective, I am neither put off by sex in a game, nor attracted by it. Nor do I think I would be motivated to buy a game if it tried to appeal to the wild sexual animal inside of me.

Games are not really for sex. There are so so many other `resources` available. Games are like the anti-sex in a way. You are always busy, you cannot be bothered by having a man in your life, it is Saturday night, you are tired, and rather than de-stress the Adam and Eve way, you slash monsters with a sword.

I cannot say if sex sells for men. Part of me wants to believe that most men do not actually want to look at pixellated images of ladies wearning some or no clothing. I do not want to believe that men really wanted to see the origional tomb raider with no clothes or play female characters in games just because you can watch women in scantily clad clothing fight.

Perhaps I am being naive, is this is the case, then I really do not want to know.

If a significant portion of your thinking does not occur between your legs, then sex will not influence whether or not you buy a game - it may even repel you from it...

however...

a significant number of consumers' thinking apparently does originate from that general proximity of their anatomy.

I will go so far as to say that if your game is focused on sex, it's probably not a very good game, because you saw it necessary to try to distract us from it.

I would have to say yes. It probably helps quite a few games sell better than if they didn't have sex or anything at all.

Bottom line: in my opinion sex sells in games just like it always has, and as long as you have bikini samurai, or hot superheros, or (God forbid) Megan Fox,

[yawn..]

Men will pay full price to see it.

But that's just what I think.
Megan Fox is WAY overrated. They made her try to be too sexy, and it failed quite badly.
That is the point though.
When I gave my opinion on Transformers 2, most of my male friends said "yeah but Megan fox is hot!"

If they could get her into video games there would be a fortune to be made.
oh wait they already did.

(BTW transformers 2 SUCKS! with all respect)
