Not really. Though it depends on how the handle it, I guess. Bayonetta was playing up the sexy, but I think they used it well. I'm more inclined to buy a game mostl by the look of its protagonist and the game play.

I'm more likely to buy something sold by sex, provided that it's both a genre of appeal and a genre of videogame that I like.

Chalk me a yes.

BMX XXX - No thanks, pass.
Dead or Alive 5 - Yep, all my money.

That is pretty much last on the list of my priorities when it comes to buying a game.
Last on your list means it still on your list means it does influence you however minorly.

In fact if there are two games that are perfectly identical in every way, except that one has characters that are more attractive in whatever way. Maybe the female character has larger boobs, the male character has acne vs no acne. If you make any decision on which game to buy that isn't a coin flip, then congrats sex appeal influences your decisions to purchase games.

nah not really, i buy it for the quality of the game/story depth.

still, it's a "why not zoidberg" moment.

why not make that girl gorgeous? or why not make that man a lean chiseled handsome dude?

equal opportunity and all that shnazzy shnazz.

I'm generally wary of it, usually it seems to be a substitute for a good game. It made me put off getting bayonetta until I repeatedly heard about the fantastic gameplay. It's one of the reasons I'm haven't bought lolipop chainsaw massacre, the entire game seems to revolve around the boobs (hearing about the upskirt achievement didn't help).

That said though, an attractive lady character (not massively sexualised) can be a (small) positive.

No sex appeal is not something I look for in games, I haven't seen many games with it either aside from the DOA series but I bought that cause I wanted to play as Ryu.

Other: It influences me but in opposite way: I usually don't buy a game where female clothes are of chainmail bikini type (unless male character wears the same thing).

I'm not sure, so I put Other. I think it does but I don't think I have never bought a game just because I found a character that I've found attractive. More often I am disappointed when I see some oversexualized character on the box, because I don't believe that's why we should buy the games for.

Nope. It'll take a lot more than the prospect of digitally rendered boobs to get me to shell out $60 for anything.

When the foxy manager at my local gamestop is wearing the right shirt, she can persuade me to buy certain games, so I suppose, just not in the sense you mean.

Games are probably too big a deal to let something like that influence me. Webcomics, advertisements, internet articles, in truth it probably does influence me a bit, but I can't think of a game I've bought because of the sex appeal (now I may have liked a game more for the SA)

No, unless the sex appeal is just embarrassingly stupid in which case yes, it makes me avoid the game.

Besides, video-games require 2 hands to play.

I say yes, but in a different way. If I see a game cover that has several promiscuous women on the front, then I'm probably not gonna get it because it usually looks like the game's only draw is sex appeal. Easy example: Dead or Alive. A game that doesn't even sound like a game primarily focused on sex appeal. The title sounds cool, but what lies underneath is just a game of boobs and bad volleyball.

Hmm... Maybe, in that if a game throws tits in my face as though it's the main aspect of the game, I'm probably going to give it a miss. But on the other hand, a little bit of romance/sex appeal does add a bit of flavor to an already decent game. I'd say that there's a sort of middle ground between over the top and without it whatsoever, that makes me more inclined to buy a game. I.E. Part of the reason the new tomb raider caught my eye was that Lara's clothing outfit is somewhat more reasonable than it's been in the past. (Though I wouldn't have gotten it if if didn't also have good reviews recommending it.)
