Most of the time, not at all. But if it does, its usually the opposite affect than intended on me

If the Dev sees its consumers as drooling idiots who will buy anything with Boobs, Im not sure I want to be a part of that lol

Really got that vibe from lolipop chainsaw
*Not saying its a bad game, but the way it was presented was a tad bit creepy*

I'm guilty of it, and every game I bought for that reason has turned out to be fantastic. I got Devil May Cry and Resident Evil 4 because the protagonist are smoking hot and I wish more games have some mancandy in them as well.

As for games with tits on the cover, that doesn't dissuade me from buying games either. If it's a good game I won't let that stop me from getting it, Catherine and Bayonetta are fun.

I chose other. Sure I like games with appealing female characters, but I'd rather them not be super sexual. If the game has a bunch of chicks running around in underwear for no reason I probably won't buy it. If it just has nice looking female characters dressed normally it's a plus for the game.

I've don't think I've ever been influenced by sex appeal to purchase a game.
It has influenced me not to buy certain games, such as DOA Beach Volleyball. However to be fair, that's just a lot of pandering to a demographic that I'm not really part of, so no complaints here.

Not in the least.

The things that draw me to a game are gameplay and story. If there's a hot girl or two, I'm not complaining. But I won't be spending $60 just for that.

If I am influenced by sex appeal, it'd be subconsciously. Overtly, I don't care much for it. I'm more of a substance than a flash kind of guy.

Im going to be honest and say Yes, because the only reason I looked into Bioshock Inifinte was a big pair o' boobies in the video thumbnail. Since the. Ive played and very much enjoyed the original Bioshock and I'm psyched for Inifinte besides boobies.

For it will be a reason to buy, but not the sole reason I buy. Ergo games like X-Blades and Soul Calibre tout their sex appeal but at the end of the day I dont much care for the game. Currently im giving Tera a go because I liked the way it looked and now its free to play, but before it was an MMO to which im otherwise disinterested in.

So while it may not appeal to a majority, I do believe a world without sex appeal would be bland and boring. Hell in the next century women could be going round topless like huys do at the beach and nobody will give a shit and the attitude towards breasts and the like will be looked upon how people considered ankles indecent.

The reason breasts are so taboo and controversial is because they're not shown publicly, nobodies going to raise a ruckus over a man flashing his nipples are they?

The core of the game has to be good, sex appeal is the icing on the cake. Who doesn't like beautiful women in skimpy cloathing in a great game? Fantasy is fantasy.

Women claiming they are offended by it? Whatever, they are free to criticize games, they'll criticize furniture of being sexist, their opinions, nobody other than them cares and they make up jack-all of that particular game's targeted audience - because if their opinion really mattered that much, if they really made such a huge chunk of the audience, the developer would sink.
Oh wait, last time I checked Bayonetta and Lollipop Chainsaw did more than fine in sales, whatever women had to say about those games was fucking irrelevant rofl. Nobody cared if women had been pissing and whining about over-sexualized characters in those games.
Skullgirls will do fine as well, despite the "omg sexist" stabs that certain retards took at the developers [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114731-Skullgirls-Artist-Weighs-In-on-Sexism-Controversy], who are working their asses off to create a game like that. Selfish attention-seeking assholes, that's all I can say.

If the core gameplay/story is bad then then any attempt at sexy/romance/whatever just kinda falls flat for me.

Now look at X Blades or Heavenly Sword, freaking sexy protagonists, great to see in action...but what the hell are they doing? Give it some meaning! Both games are disappointments at the core, the protagonists are flat, terrible God of War rip-offs.

Careful, you're committing a blasphemy here by saying "I'm not really part of that demographic". Several people here (esp. women) believe that even if you're not part of that demographic, you should get very angry about such games and vocally express your opinions. You have to care. Yes, I'm serious.

I'm not quite sure about the wording on your question, so I'm choosing "other." Basically, though, if the characters (male or female) are too sexualized, I don't buy the game. I find that sort of thing to be insulting, sort of like the developers are going "Look! Cleavage! You don't need anything else!"

The creepy fanservice crap that has ruined anime is what I draw offence, because I like Japanese games and hate seeing niche Japanese devs pander to much to the otaku demographic. Some games like shmups I can bite the bullet because while the fanservice is there, the constraints of the genre makes little impact in the gameplay. Other genres aren't so lucky, like the JRPG Time and Eternity I would be all over like a rash as I'm mad for 2D animation if it wasn't for the crappy anime fanservice.

That said there are other sexy games like Bayoneta and Skullgirls which are very stylish and tastefully done and look great imo.

In short:

= Tacky Crap

= 1000% better as it's more stylish and tastefully done. As a 2D nut I even appreciate the animation of the tit wobble

Honestly, yes. I certainly don't put sex appeal over good or interesting gameplay but, on first blush, a game with attractive characters is definitely going to be more apprealing. That really goes for both the male and female characters. That new Capcom game shown at the PS4 launch, for instance, totally does not look interesting to me despite the fact that I enjoy action games, RPGs and stuff with dragons in it. Why? Because the characters (all males in this case, by the way) are butt ugly and I would not want to play as any of them.

Considering I don't seem to like the 'traditional' sex appeal marketing strategy of massive tits and skimpy clothes, I can't say it does, no.

Then again, I can't imagine my purchasing power possibly being persuaded by putting 'my kind of girl' on the box. It'd make me more interested, certainly, but I'm not impulse-buying a £50 game because I am not an idiot.

Men are stupid when it comes to woman. An im a man. But if its connected to games, then it depends on the game. If the game looks crap then it doesnt matter what the sexualised content is.I wont buy it.

No. The only game I bought because I thought the character looked cute was DMC3, but even so I still did some research before I decided to buy it.

Yes, it influences my decision to buy a game, generally in the negative sense.

Almost didn't buy Bayonetta because of it, but I played the demo and reckoned it would be fun to play. I'm about an hour into the game proper and have yet to get in much gameplay (though the characters seem to be having a lot of fun). Kind of disappointed in that one.

I generally ignore a lot of the other over-sexed titles (DoA and it's ilk for instance). Good gameplay, for me, does not include the direct manipulation of digital mammaries.
