Yes...

I do 'read between the lines' and I expect him to rag on a game, if however he goes blitz-o-nut-o on it....I reconsider, maybe 'borrow' it one way or another first or really read up - I'd certainly wait for a while for proper word of mouth from non fan boys to filter out....

If he likes a game, yeh I'll look into it more....or if the review sounds interesting....

Take his latest one Call of Duty black ops, if I wanted an explosive shooty all out action game.....that's what it sounds like, no plot nothing serious just bad guys to blow away constantly - and TBH if you were going to buy the game, that's probably what you wanted....

So yeh I wish I'd seen his spores review before buying the game biggest hyped up rubbish I ever fell for

I have similiar taste as Yahtzee, not exactly the same but pretty close so almost everything he points out is true for me as well.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of reviews in general. If you're blindly following the writings of anyone you deserve what's coming to you, be it retribution or bad video game purchases. When Yahtzee reviewed, say, Final Fantasy XIII he said that apparently the game doesn't get any good until 20 hours in. Personally, I don't have 20 hours to wait for a game to "get good" so this put me off the purchase. However, when Fable 2 was reviewed and he put it down I agreed with most of the criticism but enjoyed the game anyway, I'm not going to take a review of the game personally. I'm pretty sure a lot of film critics would give Small Soldiers a hard time and criticise it for a lot of things but I still enjoy it. Most of what Yahtzee criticised Batman: Arkham Asylum for was correct yet I still bought and enjoyed the game, likewise with Red Dead Redemption- I believe he called it "a well-written and immersive time sink" which, at the time, is exactly what I wanted. Being able to read between the lines on these things is important and accepting that what one person hates may be what you love is a much quicker way to finding games that YOU enjoy rather than beating on someone for having an opinion. Again, just an opinion.

HE DOESN'T TAKE THE MULTIPLAYER PART OF A GAME IN TO CONSIDERATION
but why should he states that it's the reason he doesn't is because he plays games with the mind set of a person that doesnt want to play multi player
i got MW 1 and i hate multi player just because im not in to playing on servers with the "OMG YOO YOOS DA NOOOBTOOBES, WTF LAZT ZTAND FARGOT, DUDE NO NADES" and they are on every fucking server what makes them worse is the fact that they are the same ones that think using chopers air strikes and all that good shit are pro

No...

An unanimated cartoon doesn't tell me nearly as much about the game as actual footage, I like Gametrailers for that. I see for myself, listen to what is said, and then disregard the final score...unless it's really low.

I've been playing games for long enough that I can pretty much tell what is good and what isn't by watching a couple of minutes of in-game footage.

It depends. IF he raves on a game real hard, like he did with Black ops ysterday. I do stop to rethink when I see it at the shelves. But usualy? Nah. He dont affect me.

No, unless he reviews a game positively, which is a sign that the game is actually good.

If I'm thinking of getting a game I'll re-watch Yahtzee's video on it, if there is one. I have to really pay attention and re watch a few times though, because hot damn is he cynical. It's never done me any wrong, really. Except with Prince of Persia. I hate Prince of Persia, but I heard something along the lines of 'hesitant reccomendation' and decided to try it. BAD IDEA.

Yes, definately. Let's say, out of the 100 games he reviews, I agree out of 85 of them. Agreed, those other 15 may wait for a purchase, but I don't have a hole in my hand.

Not in the slightest. He's usually two parts entertainer to one part reviewer, and I lost all respect for the reviewer bit from his more recent videos.

He's a game critic. And his sole purpose on this site is to do his job, which is to critise the hell out of a game so that we'd all be entertained and he'll get his paycheck. So..no, his ashing of a game won't make me not buy it. But if he recommends a game, I'd check it out.
