That would be kick ass if my girlfriend was a gamer...but that doesn't mean she has to be a gamer, she just has to accept that i am.

She doesn't HAVE to be a gamer, however, she should be understanding towards my hobby and also..it would be a nice perk if she was into gaming. It would be a very pleasant way to connect with her.

I suppose it's not a deal breaker, but it would be a huge plus for me.

Honestly, I think the only thing better than having a girlfriend who is a gamer would be to have a girlfriend who wants you to get her into gaming. I suppose I like teaching.

No... simple answer is because I'm going to take whatever I can get, and hypothetically if I wasn't a loser and could actually get a girlfriend, then it really doesn't matter. As long as they don't mind the fact that I game pretty much all the time.

Far from a requirement. Definitely not, as long as they understand my choices in hobbies. Which, if they didn't, wouldn't be a companion anyway. So, really, point is moot.

Not necessarily, but she needs to be fine with the fact that gaming is my major hobby. Though it would certainly be nice if she was a bit nerdy.

No but with the exception that they accept and don't mind that I play games, if they don't play games that fair enough, its not for everyone but I will not be with someone who will hovering over my shoulder all the time telling me how I shouldn't be playing games or whatever

Im in the clear majority on this one. My girl doesn't have to be a gamer but if she was that would be fantastic or hell if she even took an intrest when I played that would be good to. But even if she abhorred games, I'd still keep her around and not let her not being a gamer split us up(that'd just be fucking stupid) I'd just spend less time on my 360 and or my PC in favor of doing things with her

distribution is kindof interesting, not necessarily the yes/no, but the hetero/homo & male/female, more specifically that about 7.5% of the population (at least those that voted) are homosexual, ... kinda expecting more >.> oh well
back on subject, i knida think they do, me and my GF are gamers, and if my GF wasnt, or even worse, was against gaming, i just dont think that would work, it would be a source of constant conflict, especially since most of my life revolves around computers (my custom desktop, my CE degree im going for at college, my job, etc)
but then again, that would make games a definite respite (that might be the wrong word >.>) from her
meh, id rather it be a connection with her then a seperation from her
ill always have bars to get away from her if necessary...........

My girlfriend doesn't have to be a gamer (It'd be great if she was), but she just has to accept that I'm a gamer and that kind of thing appeals to me, and it's what I like to do in my spare time, besides music.

Do they have to? No.

Would it make a more appealing, longer standing relationship? Yes.

People who are so desperate to find companionship that they are willing to drop something they enjoy just for it are sad. Part of a relationship is finding common interests. I would rather be with someone who likes what I like than to modify myself to be with them. It's a big world and there are plenty of fish in the sea.

No, my girlfriend doesn't have to be a gamer. It does help though; it gives us something to talk about that other couples normally wouldn't. Plus, how cool is it that your girlfriend is a gamer just like you? Think of all the things you can do now; face of in Marvel vs Capcom, have a sniper battle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, have a face off in Wii boxing, etc... The possibilities are endless.

I won't date anyone that can't beat I Wanna Be The Guy on the hardest difficulty. When it comes to love a person can't just settle on the things that matter most. So to the non-existent people seeking to win my heart, get to practicing, the gauntlet has been laid. It will be like The Bachelor, except with more nerd rage, gravity defying apples, spikes, and hurled PCs.
