It's a trap! There trying to trick you with negative suggestions!

Don't kill the cat!
I can't look at the entire episode, poor kitty

Did she actually kill it? And if she pushed the button, did she actually kill it.
She press it but the button was never wired to kill the cat. She actually picked treat, and the treat was every time she was faced with a negative suggestion, she would remember that day and resist it more easily. And she gets the money (the cat technically didn't die)
WHAT A TWIST!

I wouldn't push the button, but I would scribble out the not on the sign for the next poor bastard who got trapped in the room.

Assuming I'm locked in the room, and the only functional anything I can find is the button, then I guess it's going to get pushed. I certainly would look for other interactive objects like a door or a window, but if the ONLY thing in the room is the button, then it's only going to be a matter of time before I push it.
I don't want to get a low content warning, but this is pretty much the only real answer here. You might wait hours, days, or even longer if you have food and water (though presumably you won't, ever) but eventually that button is getting pushed

No, I wouldn't press the button. I don't care for what I gain and I don't want to end up doing something evil. Hell, if it said "Don't push this button" then it would have said it for a reason.

Derren Brown did this and made someone think that a kitten was in a cage that was wired up to the mains. She was then told not to kill the kitten. Here the link

Considering that waking up in unknown dark room would piss me off, id push it right away just because the warning sign said to not push it.

One thing that would concern me is if the button is tied to a nuke, and the test being performed by some Jigsaw wannabe is seeing if my own curiosity and boredom would overrule my desire for self sacrifice knowing my only meaningful action left in life is the button. I mean, the test could be anything from seeing how long it takes me to push the button, or just a setup to see if I could be the fall-guy for murdering someone. I'm picturing a scenario like that movie I didn't see where some one could push a button for money, but then some one dies.

There are so many reasons why a button would be labeled to be not pushed, but then you have to question the purpose of a button that should never be pushed. It goes to show how such and odd and pointless question could turn into something deep and interesting to debate.
