This is stupid. Stop thinking that all PC games automatically come with a whole databse of mods that all work and add genuinely good content. I've barely modded any PC games in my whole gaming carreer. Mods are sort of a nice addition for SOME games, but not necessary.
I'm not talking about things like full-fledged campaigns made by some guy adding to the story, while those are nice and all, the real thing is console commands to tweak the game to your liking, INI modding, new texture packs and even community bug fixes or restoring old content.

Console games can't ever match that.

And if you have only modded a handful of games.. either you're playing the wrong games or you're missing out on a lot of great stuff. And that is what's stupid.

No mod toolset this time
The only game with modtools Bioware ever made were DA and Neverwinter Nights. ALL of the their games have mods. Not full stories or big additions, but tweaks and useful or interesting changes at the very least.

KOTOR 2 doesn't have mod tools, but there's the full content restoration mod was still mod.

STALKER doesn't have mod tools, yet they made the COMPLETE edition, a major overhaul.

Mass Effect 2 doesn't have mod tools, yet I can pick up party members in any order I please and get weapons that drop off enemies.

No mod tools just doesn't mean much, sorry.

If my craptop would run it then Id go for the PC, but since it wont Im gonna playing it on my xbox.
And its nice to hear that the gap between the platforms has closed, I was majorly pissed off that I had to skip the 1st one due it being "crap on consoles".

I WAS going to pre-order it for PC, but I don't think I could have been more underwhelmed by the demo if it had spat at me.

Bland environments, a pointless (and I think less attractive) art style, suggestions that its leaning more towards a hack and slash than the (relatively) tactical combat of DA:O (dunno if its coz of the console thing, but... the demo was linear, enemies were pouring in from off camera, it was dreadful). Even though the spells and abilities were largely similar, I didn't feel:
i) That much progress had been made (they actually seem to have cut spells out...)
ii) That they had any consistency with the previous game.

Combat was a mess, it was difficult to see what was going on, and misclicks sent my characters sprinting across the other side of the room.

Mostly minor stuff, but when they got it so right the first time...

I'll be playing DA2 on my 360 because my PC was cheap, and wouldn't be able to run the game. Plus, I played DA: O on my 360, so I'm familiar with the control layout 'n stuff. Lastly, I prefer getting into RPGs on my 360 'cause my bed is comfy, unlike this office 'n chair.

Speaking of, I should really download the demo and try it out.

I'm going to play it on the correct platform.
Do you really have to get snobbish about this? Really?
Well, yeah, that's what we PC gamers do.
It was meant tongue-in-cheek, really. Unfortunately that seems not to come through very well in text.

I think he was just being a smartass, not a snob. It's well known by now that Dragon Age (the first one at least) was designed primarily as a PC game. Honestly, I still have trouble comprehending how it was even playable on consoles.

Regardless, I hear Bioware put some good effort into giving a different combat system for the console versions so good on them for that.
DA:O was really easy to play on Consoles, I am on my seconde playthrough and its really easy. Not that hard to comprehend.

Definitely PC, though I'm a little torn between this version and the 360 version, as the latter has the story I've carved out for my character there. Repurchasing Origins for the PC seems like a waste of money at this point...

Well, I've played both the 360 and PC demos, and I can safely say this. Both are awesome, but the PC version is more like a more fast-paced version of Origins, while the console version is just completely different, and just a lot more action-based. Even on medium settings (why can't we set it to high, dammit?!) it looked fantastic on my rather modest machine, but I honestly just preferred the control setup (and the ability to play from my couch and on a big-screen TV...) that the console version offered. I'll be getting it on 360 first, then maybe the ultimate edition on PC when it comes out.

Oh, and I saw the ps3 version today at a friends house, no noticeable difference between that and the 360 one.
So for the console is it like you have to press the button for each attack kind of thing?
Yeap, each time you hit attack, you attack. Honestly, while I liked Origins on PC, I just really like the more immediate feel in the console version of DA2.
you know....I think I'd prefer that... since I really sucked at the forst one

Yes, unfortunately they have twisted the game so that the correct platform is now one with a controller.
Not sure I agree with that bit. I think mouse & keyboard will still give you more fine-grained control over combat, and I don't think you can really get immersed in an RPG while sitting back on your couch. Even pen & paper RPGs work better and feel more immersive when everybody's sat around a table, in proper chairs. I've tried playing them on couches and it just doesn't work right.
Admittedly, the PC version will be gimped a bit due to the need to fit the game within the limitations of consoles. The models will be simpler and textures lower-res than they could be, and the areas you wander in will be smaller and less complex, all because they have to fit within the smaller memory footprint of consoles, and run smoothly on the less-powerful graphics hardware. But I still think the game will be a better experience at a desk, with a mouse and keyboard.
Besides, there will be mods on the PC version. Even if Bioware doesn't include official support for mods, modders will still do their thing, like they did for many other PC games that didn't include official mod support.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly that RPGs are eminently suitable for m&k controls, but when you have a hybrid OTS view and abominations like wheel menus and all the lack of complexity that that entails, I think you have to concede that the game is made primarily with the controller in mind... therefore making the controller the correct control device for the design
Yes, even with a game designed for a controller its possible for the mouse to give you more fine grained control, arkham asylum for example, you can get more precision movement and combat with a mouse... but because the game is designed for a controller using the m&k controls feel awkward and its definitely a better experience with a controller (I've played it with both).

PC definitely, its by far the best way to enjoy a 'proper' RPG with the keyboard and mouse controls. Bioware have previously stated that the PC is the best way to enjoy their games: http://bit.ly/hwKh0X

I still need to test out the demo me.

I played the first on on PC and I have a save file that I'm going to import. Games like these are better suited for PC anyway so even if I never played the first one I'd still get it for PC.

No probs, sorry to cause offence.
I would like to observe a moment of silence for those poor puppies, though.
