I have it pre-ordered, and whether or not it is released on time doesn't matter much to me. Just that I get it before ME3.

Nah. The first one was pretty good, what with the application of a near-D20 system and controls that were somewhat reminiscent of Baldurs Gate/Icewind Dale... but this one looks to have strayed too far from that formula for my tastes.

...I may pick it up from a bargain bin years from now, though.

I haven't decided yet. I'm going to wait for reviews and my friends to tell me if it is worth my time or not. I didn't like Dragon Age: Origins very much.

Now Mass Effect 3 on the other hand.... I WANTS! ^_^

No, I am waiting for Divine Divinity 3.
Woa, it was announced? Larian always takes the time to actually work on their games before announcing them so ... how do you know it will come out this year?

Most excellent! I really hope that they improved the visuals. Last time I saw the game it looked like it was made four years ago. Also, I don't mind the idea of playing exclusively as a human. The dialog wheel was an unwanted change, though.

I'm pretty sure I'll be adding Dragon Age 2 to my collection, but I'll see what the reviews say first. There's also a demo which I think I'll be checking out. [More info on that here: http://bit.ly/ebDLrQ ]

However, I don't know when I'll but it. I'll probably be waiting for the price to come down a little before diving in.

Also, does anyone know if you can transfer save files from Dragon Age: Origins to 2? I heard the choices your Grey Warden made can influence what happens in 2. And if that is the case, can they be transferred from a retail version to a Steam version?

You can import. And according to imports, some political things will change and you might get a cameo from Alistair, Anora or both. Don't know about the Steam thing.

Shit looks retarded.

I agree, it's a huge turn off for me too. The thing that I hate the most about Dragon Age 2 is how much it resembles a JRPG.

I loved DA:O to bits, but im glad that Bioware are changing it. Just making another game with the same gameplay and everything is the fastest way for a series to stagnate. So I heartily approve of its new direction.

Pre-ordered it before christmas to get the shiny Signature Edition.

I haven't really experienced classic/gritty medieval fantasy settings before Dragon Age, so I easily got hooked after buying it.

Though, as with all modern games, it's just so frikkin' short! Throughout the entire game, the focus was logically put on setting up the story and overall world of the game. Needless to say, I swallowed it whole. Such cultures, such political and historical tension in rich detail! Yet it seemed insistant on the classic "defeat monster, save the world" story. Which I in all honesty just wanted to get over with, so that I could explore the world further and interact with all the problems and conflicts that plauged the every day life of the people there. I got that to an extent with Awakenings, but it felt rushed. It didn't give much if any closure as to what happened to -YOU-.

This was the reason I purchased Witch Hunt in the hopes of being able to know the final chapter of my character's story atleast, but at the ending scene it ends in a way that could only be described as the game pulling down the curtains, going "Nyah nyah!" in my face. So... my character just disappeared to some place, putting me back in the same state of cluelessness as before.

Quite... frustrating I must say. I just hope I'll live long enough for them to make an MMO out of this story universe. Should WoW by some turn of events die.

Dragon Age 2 should be refreshing if anything, with that timeline structure implemented.

Thanks. I'll look into the other thing.

Oh, for anyone near London. The Guardian are holding an event which includes Bioware dev Mike Laidlaw as a speaker and the chance to play Dragon Age 2. So if you want to try it out or shout at the dev, check it out. Info here: http://bit.ly/gOrG7P

Eh, I still have to finish the first Dragon Age. It sadly wasn't what I expected, so I ended up being disappointed. I'll put it off for now, maybe I'll get it some day.

I already pre-ordered the special edition when they announced it would automatically upgrade to the special edition. It does look a little dumbed down in some respects, but these are mostly just to make the game flow better and make it less clunky. Just because it's been "streamlined" doesn't mean it has been stripped down to the bone.

+ Dialogue wheel
+ Player character has a voice
+ Faster and more involving combat
+ Better leveling

- Locked to only being human
- Story doesn't seem to be as "epic" as Origins. In Origins it was about becoming a hero to save the entire world from a dangerous threat. Dragon Age 2 is about a fugitive gaining respect in the free marshes. It sounds like a Saints Row or Grand Theft Auto type story, but replacing the street crime, gangsters and personal revenge plot with swords and magic and Tolkien races.

Gritty medieval settings just turn me away from the game.

And from what I hear, the last game was way too drawn out and it appears this is no different.
I remember when RPGs averaged 50-60 hours.

Now 30 hours is considered "long".

PFFFFFFFFT.

You kids and your short games.
Hold on now 'oldster' most Old games had awful durations. Legend of Zelda was a paragon of its time, but even that was probably only 20 hours long, with both run throughs (player skill obviously VERY dependent in that day and age!).

While there are some amazingly long games from back in the day, it really wasn't the norm.

Anyhow, I will likely get DA:2. I have not been reading about it, but DA:O was pretty good (even if... it had odd spikes in difficulty wtf?).

I didnt really find the first Dragon Age that fun, mostly because I spent half the time running around looking for stuff to do, and it was a bit too slow paced for my liking, but I loved the difficulty of it, but from what I have seen the second Dragon Age has seen alot of change, so we'll see. I probably wont get it on release, but maybe later
