I think it will most definitely be Hawke. I liked her, though. We had the Morrigan loose end with the Warden, and that doesn't need to be addressed through the Warden. Hawke's story at the end of Dragon Age II has the world in disarray. I don't think her story is finished yet.

Of course, I'm most curious about where we will be rather than who we will be. All signs point to Orlais (which is the Thedas version of France). I really want the next game to be set in Antiva, though (which is Italy with Spanish accents).

New guy, I can see my characters all meeting up at the end and fighting for one epic battle, if I must choose between Hawke and my Warden, warden all the way.
me too, cause most of them were elves. and hooked up with zevran. i like elves.

but i digress. the original story just gave me more oportinities to care about my characters and the supporting npcs. i haven't finished 2 yet, but i haven't started caring about them yet either. not with the bland voice acting here.

and what was with getting new voice actors for Sandal and Anders? Huh? At least they kept flemeth, which is good because she is the only character apart from Merril that shows any vestige of human emotion when she speaks.

I didnt like Hawke, you didnt choose his origin, I either want the Hero because I have forged a connection so strong that Hawk couldnt breake it since he didnt have his own origin or no F**KING Dual Weilding warrior of death, or a new character exept let their be dual weilding warrior and same attack system from DA2 (Press a or whatever to attack).....
They took out duel wielding warriors for a reason, and its not coming back

OP: Id place my money on morrigans god baby if it wasnt an age issue. The best we could say is that she had the baby about 10 years before all this crap started, and somehow i dont think playing as a 10 year old would be exactly normal, especially with romances, then it turns into CP.

Unless perhaps the portal morrigan went through leads to another plane where time means nothing (that old chestnut)
Whats the problem with it, I loved it and their is no point in hating it....may as have it if people still want it....

Because it left the rouge class with nothing unique other then being able to disappear and use cunning for damage instead of strength, they basically became light armored warriors.

God I want to be the Warden again, So freak'in badly. Hawke is fine and all, but the Warden is so much better.

Although They will probably have us playing as Hawke in the next game.

Hawke and the fully voiced Hero of Ferelden Dam it! I want my Amell mage to meet his cousin.
Yeah this was my first thought when i imported my old save from DA:O with my human mage. OT - I reckon it would be interesting to have 3 choices, your old Warden (If he/she died it won't be available), Hawke or a new character entering the story. Like maybe another Seeker from the chantry, or a rouge Templar (Or not depending on choices). Or maybe a mage from Kirkwall or another circle on the run.
That would be cool, and it would also give people origin choices if they wanted.

I'm guessing the Hero of Ferelden is out of the question, since he could have died or, from what I've heard, vanished alongside Morrigan.
Hawke would be a better choice, since s/he survived and you'd need saves from only one game to import your impact on the world.
However, I think it would be best to give us a new character. Someone affiliated with the Seekers, perhaps? Or maybe a non-human?

As for the destination, the whole game screams "Orlais!", but I'd rather visit Tevinter. Because, seriously, who wants to go to France in a fantasy videogame?

I wouldn't mind a Fenris-esque magistrate's experiment. Throw some supernatural origin into it like in Baldur's Gate, maybe. Mind you, I'm a tad biased because I really wanna see the next game based in Tevinter. They're the biggest tangible villians so it'd made sense for the third game to be about kicking their asses. It'd also make sense for them to be the subject of the Seekers' investigation, since they're the fricking Black Chantry.

Well, if Alistair becomes King and the Warden lives in DA:O, then, in DA2...

King Alistair makes an appearance, and as he's leaving one of his advisors says "The Hero of Ferelden should have returned by now," to which Alistair replies, "he has a name you know." Paraphrased.

I'd rather go to Orlais and cause some trouble there. I feel like we were fighting Tevinter mage after Tevinter mage the whole time in Dragon Age 2. I'm kind of sick of mages (and I sided with them).

Completely new character makes the most sense. The Hero is on a clock and Hawke must be busy with whatever she's doing.

Actually, either one would work, I'm just slightly more interested in seeing something new. This setting is served well by seeing it from different perspectives.

There weren't really that many Tevinter mages in DA2, I think. And Tevinter culture sounds more interesting than Orlesian. Plus, who could put up with those French accets for a whole game?

I think I may just have a case of Francophilia.

Antiva would be cool though, right? Everyone and his mother is an assassin there, and they have nice leather boots.

A completely new character would be for the best in my opinion. If they start making DA a Hawke story from now on they are only turning it into a medieval version of ME. There's a whole world out there, don't limit us to only one flavour of douchebag!

Totally unrelated but: anybody else finds it annoying that they don't let you mess with their perfect creation of Hawke? I mean you can make him look whatever you please choosing from the list but all the features used on the default Hawke, which they obviously spent the most time and effort making, aren't available for anything else.

I don't see how they could continue Hawke's story, now that I think about it. DA2 was mainly about their family escaping the blight and setting up shop in Kirkwall. Hawke is ambitious, but not "save the world" ambitious.

Are you on the PC? They haven't released a toolset patch, but there are already mods with revamped and improved chargens.

From what I understood from some interview or another, we might be controlling Hawke since fans asked to continue with their character.

It would make sense since it's easier than the Hero. Not to mention that mine died so...
I would have liked it to be him though. Much more interesting and customized than Hawke, but that's probably why it's too hard to do.
Really? Dammit. I hate Hawke. I don't know if it is the voice actor, the fact that he didn't do anything, or was his inability to dual-wield swords like my awesome Warden but I never want to use him again.
OP; I hope it is my Warden. If the world is on the verge of destruction then I'd feel more secure if it was him.
The Law of BioWare protagonists: Female VA > Male VA.

Maybe that's the problem.

Neither. I was certain, until my first 10 minutes of gameplay that is, that Hawke was actually the son/daughter of the Hero of Ferelden, but seeing as that didn't fit with the time line I decided otherwise. Anyways, I would like to play as said demon-imbued offspring. There's too much potential there, no matter how you look at it. But that's probably not possible, seeing as we all had a choice regarding that particular conception, so I guess my answer would have to be Hawke. Though I would prefer a new, completely unrelated character.

I think Bioware's mission with the Dragon Age universe at this point is to showcase as many different regions of their world as they can. If you haven't seen the full map of Thedas online anywhere, it's absolutely massive, and the current games have only taken place in a corner of it. While Hawke and the Warden will definitely be making appearances, I think the rule is probably new region, new character.

Thedas: the least creative name in fantasy. Why? Because they came up with it like this: The Dragon Age setting. It's also basically an upside-down map of Europe.

But I really do want the Dragon Age World Tour.
