I think Bioware's mission with the Dragon Age universe at this point is to showcase as many different regions of their world as they can. If you haven't seen the full map of Thedas online anywhere, it's absolutely massive, and the current games have only taken place in a corner of it. While Hawke and the Warden will definitely be making appearances, I think the rule is probably new region, new character.
Thedas: the least creative name in fantasy. Why? Because they came up with it like this: The Dragon Age setting. It's also basically an upside-down map of Europe.

But I really do want the Dragon Age World Tour.
If there is one thing I would love for Bioware to tackle is a Betheseda-esque world. Meaning its open world and you must travel. Keep the story structure the same, but make going around the world more exciting.

I think the new hero will be Orlesian, since *sorta spoilers* Bodahn and Sandal( "Enchantment!" ) told you that the Orlesian queen summoned them. Just sayin' PS. DA2 is great!!!

A new character.
RPG sequels suffer constantly because in their game the hero journies from a low position to a very high one (The journey itself being the game and the end the final boss battle). But the sequel presents him in the high position (acquired in the previous game) - where will him climb to now? Games like God of War shamelessly screw with you, and in the instance of GoW make you vist hell a few times just to make you climb back up.
I think that there'll be a new character, because there are too many variables from the last game to remember. Think to yourself, how many details did you notice that were impacted by your last playthrough? A handful. It was all background.
You'll play as a new character, but instead of the blight in the background you'll have mages rebelling against the chantry in every circle around Thedas.
God Speed, BioWare.
* Edit: The next game WILL take place in Orlais, because the devs follow Sandal around. You CANNOT have a Dragon Age game without Sandal.

in dragon age 3

the choices will be

Your Warden

Hawke

Morrigans Child

i want to play as my Half Dwarf half Arch demon Child
Only problem is that she refers to the child as her son.

She had better be lying, because I want to play as her sexy daughter.

[sub]That sounds kind of weird when I type it, oh well.[/sub]

It would be cool if they are making like a party of of individual characters which then join together in a fifth game like some sort of super team :3

Totally unrelated but: anybody else finds it annoying that they don't let you mess with their perfect creation of Hawke?
Yeah I just wanted to change her hair but you can't :/

At the very end of the game the chantry woman says, "Gone, just like the Warden."

So my guess would be a new character. I wouldn't have any issues playing as either Hawke or my warden, however.

Found more of a hint that the Warden will probably return if they live:

Regardless of whether or not The Warden followed Morrigan into the Eluvian at the end of the Witch Hunt DLC, by the time the events of Dragon Age II have ended, the Warden has completely disappeared. This is according to a report made by Leliana who was seeking out The Warden for the Chantry just as Cassandra was seeking out Hawke in an effort to gain their assistance to stop the incoming conflict.

Additionally, Leliana says, that it is no accident that The Warden and The Champion disappeared, linking them to one, final fate.
OOOOOOOOHHHHH. :D

Hmm...I don't know if I can agree with you there. Visiting one nation per game is more what I had in mind. I love Oblivion, but really could take or leave the open-world thing. I tend to prefer more linearity. If they can pull that off and give each place it's own unique culture and history, then that would be cool.

By, my God. That's asking a lot. The codex in paper form would be the size of real life encyclopedia.

Most likely we will get a Dragon Age 2.5 like Awakening and a bazillion DLCs to clear up what happens to the Hawke at end and then new character (WITH A CHOICE OF ALL RACES. INCLUDING QUNARI >.>) will come and save the day in DA3!
And Cassandra will be a companion. I called it!

There will probably be no Warden because at least a third of everyone's Wardens died in killing the archdemon. (Unless Bioware wants to create a plot hole the size of the moon.)
I never played it, but wasn't the character from Awakening also a Grey Warden? They could just pull a "Oh, no, the OTHER Grey Warden" and settle for a facepalm rather than an outright plot hole.

I want it to work like this,
My Amell, and Hawk mage, team up in the next game. have 2 main characters, and one has to be in the party at all times, but there interchangable, that way every one can choose who they play.
Plus a multi player 1 on 1 or 3 on 3 show down mode to fight each other would be epic

As for the destination, the whole game screams "Orlais!", but I'd rather visit Tevinter. Because, seriously, who wants to go to France in a fantasy videogame?
Yea I figured Orlais as well, and my personal suspicion is that there'll wind up being some sort of war with Tevinter (possibly they invade due to all the unrest because of the Circles rebelling). At least I hope it's something like that, always thought the Tevinter Imperium was kinda cool.

True, given the current situation, both Tevinter (a magocracy) and Orlais (the center of Chantry and templar power) might go to war. Which, incidentally, would be the perfect setup for a full scale Qunari invasion (especially given their attitude towards mages).

I wouldn't mind something less epic, though. Like the story of a freed Tevinter elf selling her soul, figuratively and literally, to become a magister. (Yes, that's Fenris's sister's story. I found it quite inspiring.)

Well they keep saying Dragon Age is about a world and not a person so I'm guessing new character.
Btw the Hero of Ferelden will probably never be an important person in other games because it is possible for him to die in Origins

Play as a Tal-Vashoth, or even a Qunari that becomes one.

If they weren't going to stick with the Warden they sure as fuck shouldn't stick with Hawke who is, by any measure of character, a far weaker protagonist.
