I'm conflicted.
On the one hand, Origins was good.
On the other hand; 2.
2.
I just hope we don't have to be a human in a fantasy universe again, because playing a human in a fantasy universe is like playing an accountant.

What little I've heard of it sounds relatively interesting. Plus, they're keeping the talking protagonist which makes me happy.

I'll pick it up eventually. Probably not a day-one purchase though. Never been all that enthusiastic about Dragon Age. When it comes to overused genres, fantasy RPGs are just one step behind military FPSs.
Tell me about the overuse of RPG's lol. I think the best IO've played in ages was the bards tale from the steam sale.

OT: I don't care much about DA3, origins was okay but a bit finicky and at times very tedious. Also it had the bioware thing where they basically hand you a fucking glossary and leave you to it rather than have exposition in the narrative. 2 I played a bit at a friends house, bored the hell out of me, if I want hacky slashy fun I shall replay one of many hacky-slashy fun games. Like DMC1 3 or 4, God of War 1-3, etc.

Depends how you play human, in Skyrim I was a Nord and yet I basically became the Black Knight and had zero tolerance for any lip from the citizens, offering the only demonic steel for the remotest hint of sarcasm in their voice.

Also guards. Guards who repeated what a guard has just said to me were executed on the spot for their sins. By the end of a session in Solitude I built a throne out of their corpses.

Role playing games should be judged on how well they let you play a role.

Yes, I loved Origins and thought two was pretty good. One of those game I would have thought were excellent if they didn't have shoes the size of Russia to fill. Just please bring back multiple races and the more tactical camera perspective. If it swings a little closer to Origins with some 2 thrown in I will be very very happy.

Absolutely.

I admit I've bitched and bitched about Dragon Age 2 not being a real "sequel" but after I've ruminated upon 2's entry into the series, I feel like I've mellowed on the subject. There are a lot of flawed aspects in 2 that I wish were done differently or more like Origins--a less hectic more strategic combat, less copypasta environments, more locations rather than one city and its surrounding areas--but ultimately, it was a very different experience from the original, and I think that's what I need to focus on.

Dragon Age 2 wasn't what I personally was looking for in a Dragon Age game, but I do believe it has a place as an entry in this series. It created a wholly different experience that added much to the world of Thedas. The city of Kirkwall wasn't interesting to me, but I do like the idea of one grand city state full of corruption and split conflict between to factions akin to Thieves' World city of Sanctuary. If anything, Dragon Age 2 at least built the bridge for the foreshadowed rising conflict in Dragon Age 3.

I'm much less embittered about the whole thing as you can tell. Hell, I don't even mind if they keep the talking protagonist. I don't even want it to be exactly like Origins like people have been asking. I want yet another entry to offer a brand new experience and be a separate entry in the series yet still serving to expand the series in new and exciting ways.

EDIT: More race choices though... Please?

There's going to be one regardless ya know? I'm more than likely going to ignore it though. I loved Origins but it felt like DA2 really wanted to be a hack-n-slash. It wanted to but it had a very traditional upbringing and woe betide it for daring to come out of that closet. So instead of what could have been a fun, mindless hack n slash we got a weird hack-n-slash/RPG hybrid where every male except for the awesome one hit on me furiously and no I guess I'm still not over that...Hey maybe in DA3 you can be asexual and still have your party like you.

Part of why I loved DA:O is that it was the first time in a traditional fantasy setting (...) that I actually cared about Dwarves. It was also the first time I liked playing as a Dwarf. I'm generally an Elf kind of guy but damn if those Dwarves weren't endearing! I take it you're the kind of guy who goes to an ice cream shop and makes fun of the people eating Vanilla? If so they deserve it.

No.

Between the failures that were Dragon Age 2 and ME3, I feel that Bioware will inevitably screw this game up as well.

Plus since it will be a Origin exclusive, I won't be able to pick it up a price that I think such a game will be worth (not very much).

Yeah, Origins was a good game. It was an RPG on the lines of baldurs gate.

Dragon age 2 was a decent game. It was an action game with RPG elements on the lines of say, Nier.

Remember back in the day when we were given a sequel to final fantasy 7 and got Dirge of Cerberus? That's kinda what this is like.

We generally expect MORE from a sequel, but in this case we got a smaller playable world, sub-par graphics, inferior sound and a story that kinda really makes no sense near the end.

The problem here is that bioware isn't trying to satisfy biowares fans. They are trying to satisfy EA's fans. You know, the same retards who buy the same football game every year because it has a new number on the front. The ones that like all their games to have competative multiplayer, no matter how much it sucks and don't mind paying out their ass for day one DLC that is on the disc already. You really wish these great companies could escape from their overlords and could get back to putting out gaming gold...

I'll still buy Dragon Age 3 when it comes out, but I'm not expecting game of the year out of it like all of Biowares old games...

Why would you want it to be closer to DA2? It was rather weak as far as sequels go, it removed many aspects that made the original fun and was full of questionable design decisions. It also ruined two characters I was rather fond of...

Like 2 in regards to combat. Like Origins in regard to story. If that's any better.

I don't think they're going to make a sequel. There is nothing else they can remove or dumb down, so why bother?

Bioware needs a chance to redeem themselves and DA3 is that chance. If they can make a good DA3 then I will still play Bioware games. Ifit sucks well I will not buy from Bioware again.

Huh. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
I like how they handled the rogue and mage in Origins. Their fighting style didn't look as spectacular as in DA2 but it was more fun. In DA2 the rogue was just another flavour fighter and the specialised skill trees almost forced you to bring Anders along, unless you were a healer yourself.

Eh, yes, sort of. I wasn't a hater of Dragon Age II, I would have preferred a more "conservative" (for lack of a better word) direction, but what they did worked well enough and there was enough good things in there to enjoy despite its flaws. The biggest letdown was how rushed it was, but I pray to god they are sensible enough to not make that mistake again.

I hope they have the guts to move away from the broader appeal, action-RPG style that they had in Dragon Age II and focus on making a really good, old school RPG instead, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up for that. As it stands now I can live without Dragon Age III, but I'll give it a look when the inevitable announcement comes.

I hated the first one. I decided to be a mage human so I could just spam destructive magic from a distance. The problem is it takes forever to activate and had a ridiculous cool-down times and when ever my support characters died it turned into a game of me running in circles trying to avoid being killed. I usually die any way after a few minutes anyway.

I managed to play to the part right after you fight the werewolves for the elves and then looked back at the last 15 hours. I pretty much ended up dragging my character from one cutscene to another. Yes there were a few random encounters but my character pretty much just ended up using one fire attack, run all the way to the back use a healing potion, run away because enemies got to close, die, then take control of the dog.

The story in my opinion was pretty half assed, but to be fair the only RPG I ever really liked was the Mass Effect series, that's right all three. So in short if the new one is going to be anything like the first game then I don't think we need it.

I would love to get a Dragon Age III, just as long as it is much more like Dragon Age II than Origins. Origins bored me to death while I thoroughly enjoyed pretty much everything in Dragon Age II.

I do want there to be another, but I probably won't get it. I loved Origins, and disliked everything I heard and played of DA:2. I feel it brought the franchise down a bit, I'd like to see its respect restored. Origins deserves that.

And they shouldn't call it Dragon age 3.

i never played the second because i was let down by origins and heard DA2 was even worse. i didnt dislike origins, my expectations were just way too high. i was expecting it to basically be like baldurs gate and what i got felt like a very watered down version of baldurs gate. separating myself from the hype and looking back though, origins was still a very good game. i dont really know what was bad about 2 but i would buy DA 3 if they returned to what the series was originally: an rpg heavily inspired by the baldurs gate and icewind dale games
