Drowning is alot quicker, while you suffer through a minute or so of aagony, once you breathe in, it's all over.

Depends on how intense the fire.. If I'm thrown into a fucking magma chamber, then it's going to be quick. If I'm buring in a house fire, it's going to be pretty terrible.

speaking as a lifeguard, drowning is definately the way to go in this choice. as water enters your lungs you lose consciousness very quickly, slipping basically into a coma for about 2minutes while your brain runs out of air. burning to death however would be horrificly painful as you'd have to have most of your skin burnt away before no doubt haemorraging uncontrollably due to lack of skin. If you want the hardcore burning tho I suppose you could say that it was hot enough to set your blood on fire at this point, but by then your lungs and eyes would have exploded, which is quite painful I imagine.

post death though, I personally want a Darth Vader style pyre; it seems like a more grand way to go than a burial at sea.

also, when you die from a house fire it's mostly the gases that kill you as opposed to the burning, so it's technically suffocation rather than burning.

Drowning, cause then there's the chance that I'll freeze to death first, and I'd muc, MUCH rather die cold then die on fire.

As someone who has nearly drowned and technically died from it (had to be revived) , I can say it's not all that bad to be honest. Sure you panic at first but eventually the lack of oxygen calmes you down, you sort of just stop caring and then pass out. not really that bad of a way to go really. I can imagine burning to death being very painful.

It depends on how intense the fire is. Since the death will be quicker the hotter it is.

But in most cases, drowning would be less painful.. Especially if you just hold your breath until you pass out, then there won't be any pain..

How would I wanna die? As Nico Belik said: "Having a threesome on my 100th birthday." ;)

But between those two I'd say drowning, much more peaceful....

Tough choice, but I'd go with burning. I've heard that after a few seconds of intense pain, the pain receptors on your skin would be incinerated, and you wouldn't even feel the latter stages. Drowning, on the other hand, is probably one of the most terrifying ways to die.

As an aficionado of both, I recommend burning, carbon monoxide poisoning to be exact.
Drowning is not quick, all it is is suffocation while learning the extent of helplessness and despair a human could feel, not to mention the feelings of loneliness and cold.
Fire, on the other hand, has the potential to kill in many different ways, most painful, some not. But at least you won't be cold.

One of my greatest fears is that I would die drowning, so I'm going burning. Just the feeling that no matter how much you struggle to stay afloat eventually your strength will fail you and you will die helplessly in a state of panic makes drowning scare me a lot.

Drowning is, basically, suffocating so I'd imagine you'd black out awhile before you actually died. Burning however is just pain and torment until your brain shuts off finally. Not to mention there is a far less pleasent corpse to leave behind.

Both are supposed to be some of the most horrible ways to die. I would try to avoid either one if possible.
i would say getting eating alive by a greatwhite shark... but who really knows..
getting eaten alive by ants?
Being slowly torn apart by a flesh-eating virus over the course of an hour while it over-stimulates your pain receptors? Having your mind crushed via possession by some ancient evil or another so that it can use your body to manifest in the physical world and destroy all life?

OT: Drowning. I'd imagine that if it becomes too painful I could just swallow some water to make it a bit quicker. In contrast, you can't make your flesh burn any faster through sheer force of will.

Depends on how I'm going to burn doused in flamible liquids or meres tied to a stake. I'd take doused and set on fire over drowning you'd die very quickly and would only be conscience for the first couple of seconds before your nervous system would overload making you pass out. A few seconds of pain sounds better than minutes of being unable to breath I've had that sensation before and it is one of the worst feelings in the world.

Now being burned at the stake type of burning would be the worst your slowly being cooked and wouldn't die for some time and would remain conscious until you probably died of smoke inhalation or the fire had burned a large portion of your bodym so it would be slow and extremely painful.

Burn to death. Think of the movie scenes I could recreate. Who has ever drowned in a memorable cinematic way?
