Heck, I'm happy with my DS Brick.

It's sturdy and reliable. I traded in a DS Lite so I could get one. The DS Lite's screens always felt like they could break. I store my DS in my school kitbag, and so I move a lot. I don't want my DS subjected to that, so I went for the Brick model which is sturdy as hell, so long as you don't drop it onto a corner (structural fatality).

Apart from that, the DS Brick is rugged.

just wait for it to reduce in price and it gets a DSi specific game that you want for it

don't get a DSI until there are DSI-only games that you want. They'll probably come eventually.. and don't trade in your old DS if you have a bunch of GBA games that you play.

new versions of the same console is just another tactic of milking a franchise
my point exactly . i don't see why sony and nintendo both have to have 3 versions of the same handheld . i could understand 2 versions per handheld generation. I could even understand if the hardware was somewhat faulty and they wanted to correct it. sony did this with the ps2.

but it doesn't have the ability to play gba games. for those of us who actually still play them.....
And the original DS doesn't have the ability to play GBC games.

Personally I still have my GBC and my GBA, in case I ever need them, and I'll keep my DS when I get a DSi.

Like, oh, my gods. You can drag stuff around on a picture.
Hey, Nintendo, there's a program for that already.

It's called MSPAINT.
You must have some Special Edition version of MSPaint, because last time I checked it was stuck in time with the same old features as Paintbrush for Windows 3. You'd have to look at GIMP, Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop (or similar programs) to get the features shown in that video.

Also, you seem to fail to realize that these features in the DSi hardware will sooner or later be implemented into games released for the platform. You know, the colorful picture programs you usually play with on the machine? Yeah, those. I doubt your camera's phone will be of much use if you want to play a DSi game and only have a regular DS.

Probably is a waste of money, for you. For the people that don't own a DS, and have no idea what the hell the GBA port is for, then it's an even better deal than the existing models. More fashionable, and has more gimmicks.

I would've thought that the "real gamers" would've noticed that they're not really Nintendo's top priority anymore.

I suggest getting a different handheld. PSP or Gamegear maybe even the Virtual Boy. Don't buy the DSI if you have a DS or a cell phone. They will make more DS replicas with your money. Just get a different handheld with different games, and wait for a new handheld from Nintendo.

If your DS Lite is still functional, I'd say that the extra's on DSi aren't worth a purchase. But if you got a fat old lunchbox, or you haven't got a DS yet, I say go for the DSi. Then again, if you play a lot of GBA games, avoid the DSi like the plague. I bet that if you want to play GBA games for that, you'll have to buy them off the DSi Store, wich would be a complete dickmove considering the fact that you bought the games already. So I'll click 'maybe'.

Keep your ds-lite, the dsi is just a shinier version with a camera

shinier as in new im guessing is what he ment, because the commercials, boxes, and advertizing clearly show a matte finish

Anyone who'd really care about the missing GBA slot already has a GBA or an older DS

Just because you get a new DSI doesn't mean your old systems evaporate.

The only problem is DS games that utilize the GBA port, namely the Guitar Hero games, and several DS games that 'link' to GBA games, like FFTA2

I think the "OMGITDOESNTHAVEGBAPORT!!" is a pretty stupid argument overall.

Like I said, if you already have a DS, there's no reason, right now, to get a DSI, there are only a couple games specifically for the DSI, and even the few commercials that say "Now on the DSI" aren't DSI excluse - Rhythm Nation and GTA for example - they're just trying to sell the DSIs.

Once there are DSI exclusive games (and you've done the research and know that they aren't just DS games) that you want to play, then consider getting it.

It's not a waste of money... you can let's say "do something" to it that will make a purchase worth it, Hint: You can do it to a PSP or a Wii but not a DS or DS Lite
