I'm very particular about my dubstep. I like some dubstep, but I don't really have favorite artists. It's usually a couple of songs in a repertoire I like. If I'm in the mood, dubstep is ok.

No it's god awful and I would like to strangle Skrillex slowly and painfully with my hands in a full grasp of his neck.

That said I am in the unfortunate position of having friends who listen to it, so I must at times. A shame but everyone has their own tastes, even if their tastes are terrible.

Imagine, you're listening to a normal-sounding song. And then you hear a "BWUAA-BWUAA-BWUA-BWUAAAAAA", which is repeated for another 3 minutes.

Those two sentences, in my politically correct and indisputable opinion, is what dubstep sounds like to me. And it's terrible.

I can get into it in the right mood. I don't see anything wrong with music as an idea. Its just like art, its in the eye of the beholder. :)

I'm kind of a snob, and only like music that has to be made with instruments (Guitars, Drums, Vocals, Violins etc.) So I'm really condescending towards people who consider dubstep "music". So yeah I'm going with no.

Nay.

So many times have I been watching a youtube video and instamuted it when I hear the generic dubstep kick in.

Still... Not as bad as hearing "let the bodies h-" and immediately closing the browser.

I enjoy the occasional bit of dubstep, and I like the majority of it that I hear, but I don't really hunt for artists to satiate some kind of dub-step thirst or buy the latest albums from big names like Skrillex. Here's one that I enjoy:

Nein. Too many times I've heard it used as an excuse for lazy composing and just leaving the effect on loop instead of actually having an interesting melody. I prefer traditional techno and only when I'm in the right mood.

I like it, yes.

I only like electronic music if it's aggressive, and that's what dubstep is.

So ive been listening to a lot of Dubstep tracks and mixes recently, ive been spending a lot of time going to clubs on Dubstep night. For those of you who have not come across it, Dubstep is defined as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals" and is becoming a lot more mainstream.
This has created a sort of divide amongst my friends, some hate it, some love it. I personally enjoy the genre greatly and wanted to get your take on it, do you hate it or love it, and why? Have any fav songs or artists? Do you think it will sticka round or pass by like so many other genres?
So as beardyman once said "look at him, he loves his wubwubs!".

On topic. Unless beardyman is making it, it's crap. Dubstep, gabba, 303, drum and bass and all that kind of stuff isn't what I call music. If a monkey can do it, it's not music. It's also music if I can create the exact same stuff on a PS1 (the game called music and music 2000).

Beardyman uses his amazing vocal skills to make all those kinds of music one layer at a time, if you watch his live shows there amazing. Not a single sample is used. He is also really funny.

Beatboxing ... (he even beatboxes 2 Micheal Jackson songs, with lyrics)

More intimate live show, go to about 10:50 for dubstep

If done right, then yes it sounds good, however everytime I hear it I get very irritable. Not because I don't like it just....idk.

Most of it is downright awful, but you get the odd artist like Downlink or Borgore who create some pretty mind-bending music.
Also, it's much better on drugs. Listen to
[youtubet6SA4tArvIM]
on something that's definitely not MDMA or LSD because I don't condone the use of those substances, especially on a public forum. Follow the instructions in the sample at the start, and you will feel as though you've dropped through whatever you're sitting on.
