I might as well ask before Yahtzee gets to it.

I think the game is pretty good. I think the bad reviews just came from disappointment that it's only a "just alright" game rather than the Second Coming.

*update* I tried making the poll, but it doesn't load up.

I own it on PC and think it is everything it should be. Childish, pointlessly depraved, sexist, excessive on everything and Duke Nukemy.

Its not trying to be COD / BF / Gears etc etc, its just being Duke Nukem only modern.

If you haven't tried it then you havent experienced something which is at the very least easily labelled "Different"

Wuv it <3

There are a lot of people who say it's a fun game, and fun is important. However I don't think the negative reviews are merely "disappointment," and I suspect most reviewers booted the game up with some skepticism that blind hype.

From the reviews I've read the gameplay mechanics and level design seem pretty flawed. DNF sounds disjointed to me, and it doesn't surprise me at the least that a game restarted so many times would come off that way.

I found it brilliantly fun, and its the first game in a while that Ive completed so fast. I must admit I was disappointed at certain bits n bobs, such as regenerating ego and duke being quiet when being shouted at, but it reminded me of being a kid again...a really pervy kid apparently 0_o

I think the problem is with reviewers is that they think its gonna be a AAA 10/10 perfect game, but lets be fair, after being juggled like it did, it wasn't gonna be like that. Thats why I can forgive the graphics an such (even though I thought they looked good) I mean, someone said it would look bad on a ps2, but I can safely say that my pc cant run it very well on anything highger than medium, and I can run left 4 dead and, to quoth a ps2 game, Devil may cry 3 on high, so it cant be THAT bad

You gotta remember, most games can be fun, and there is alot of fun to be had here. Like I said somewhere else on the escapist, it made me remember the days where we could just enjoy the game we had infront of us, rather than stopping to critisize how a humans ears don't look right every 5 seonds.

I'm with this guy

it's stupid, it's unpolished, it's rather sexist and quite in bad taste

in short, it's Duke Nukem

the only things I legitimately didn't like, though, was being limited to only 2 weapons, regenerating health and how small the pipebombs carry limit is, especially due to how fun they are to use, I ran out of them very quickly

also, the fucking exploding chicks in the Hive, especially the twins

fuck that, bro

also, the final boss fight was really awesome, not only the fight itself, but also the "fight-area" overall

After an earlier certain boss which I shall not name out here but in a spoiler box

The 2nd octaking fight

I was severly disappointed by the last bosses difficulty. Though I agree with you on the fight area, and the aftermath, freakin awesome

idk, I played it on highest difficulty

the second Octaking fight was a pain in the ass for me, because besides him, I had to deal with about other 4 Octobrains at the same time

that's another thing, the Octobrains from this game are actually a challenging enemy, and very intimidating as well

an excellent improvement over their DN3D version, it was really fun blowing the pipebombs in their face whenever they caught them

Played it...roughly 1/2 way through. Really enjoying it. Sure its not the greatest game in the world but its fun to switch off and indulge your basest instincts.

If your reffering to the hardest difficulty being Come get some, then thats what Ive finished on. If your reffering to Damn Im good, the one you get after completing the game, then Ive only just started on it :p

I played duke nukem 3d when I was young so it´s a trip down memory lane.
I like it by its nostalgia value, but if this had been a new installment and the duke where a totaly new character I would never care about this game.
And I understand when the younger audience hate this game when they didnt grow up whit it.

the only problem i have whit the game is the loading time, you have time to go to the kitchen and make yourself a cup of coffee and drink it go to work get home and check your mail before you can play it

yeah, done in Come Get Some, but I won't be replaying it, at least not for some time

as great and fun as the game was, I'll do the multiplayer for a while =P

Speaking as a person who never played a Duke Nukem game before and who rented DNF out of academic interest, I thought it sucked, and I conveyed as much in the review I wrote up today.

I'm with this guy, never played a Duke before this one and I hated it, the jokes would have been funny if I was 5, and everything else just seemed boring
