We'll survive it. Even if we don't, the archaeabacteria will and if evolution is right, which plenty of evidence suggests, they'll evolve into something greater than us.
There is no losing where climate change is involved.

Actually, the planet is fine. Or, it will at least recover from what we have done. It's us that are screwed. We are so used to shaping the environment to suit ourselves, we won't be able to cope when things spiral out of control.

Well, global warming/cooling/whatever may be natural phenomenon, but we do have problems with an actual pollution - Nitrous Oxide,Sulfur Oxide, that kind of stuff - and deforestation. We have to drastically cut down on the whole "mindless consumerism" thing and conserve our resources. Even if we have more than we think, extra carefulness is in order - we have only one planet, after all.

I would like to say i do something, but actually,i can't do that much - in this country,no-one cares about ecology. There's less of "environmental impact" problem and more of a "banal littering" problem,sooooo... yeah.

I am not only referring to climate change, and thanks for your constructive input, I found it rather amusing.
Not a problem.

But seriously, humanity does not deserve this planet so I really couldn't give a damn.

Oh noes our planet is dying. We have to do something. /sarcasm

Chances are humanity will not be on this Earth at the end of the century because we will have nuked the hell out of each other. I for one would rather live my life with no regard to the planet because I'm human and as a human I am a worthless waste of Carbon, water and other assorted elements.
Um...

Whatever. You're only worthless when you think you are. So yes, you are worthless, but everyone else isn't.

I find it highly unlikely that we'll have nuked eachother to death by the end of this century. For example, arguably the most powerful man on the planet wants to cut down on nukes (and no one's that stupid; everyone remembers the Cuban Missle Crisis).

And why the fuck shouldn't we do something? Its natural for people to want self preservation.

Anyway, I think that climate change happens naturally, but we have some efect on it, so we should do our best to minimize our impact. If we can get cold fusion to work, we're laughing.

I am leaning towards the "It is a natural process" argument. The problem is that it can be one AND the other. What if we are in a natural rising of the temperature (keep in mind, that the temperature on this earth changes with the centuries) while making it rise quicker and/or higher because of pollution?

I'll do my recycling and shut off my TV when it is not in use. Just in case. It can't hurt to be enviromental smart (even if I hate that prhase), it can hurt to be the other way around however.

Everyone's already stolen my point.

As I said last time, we cannot destroy the earth, we can only destroy ourselves.

I shall thus add an addendum.

If I change it will make no difference, if Britain as a whole changes it will make a tiny amount of difference. Even if America were to change China would replace all the good they did in a matter of months. The entire world needs to change before any significant good occurs, and that won't happen as long as people control the governments.

In short, we're fucked, get over it.

Heh ,and I bet you're against nuclear power as an alternative power source. Oh, the irony.
Actually I agree with what was said before >Nuclear Power is the way, but only if we can get rid of the waste without dumping it in the sea.<

I want the shit to hit the fan. It'll be funny, to an extent. Global warming'll be a blast when London and New York are under six feet of water.

"I don't care."
My thoughts exactly. I understand that it is a fairly important topic but talking about it won't help. At all.

Not necessarily. There are some environmental problems that could be solved if more people were aware of them. For example, on of the main causes of plastic pollution in the ocean is people not disposing of their trash properly. If more people were aware of the impact this has and the dangers of plastic pollution, we could probably reduce it.

Congratulations on being part of what's wrong with humanity.

Welcome to the vicious circle of 'Why should I do something while that guy doesnt?' thus resulting in no-one doing anything.

So we come to the general attitude of people.
"It's fine, I'm not willing to acknowledge the problems with the planet so that I'll have to change my lifestyle slightly. Why should I stop driving around MY Humvee that I brought with MY money?! Someone else can go change instead of me, because I'm a self centered douche."
