I always play on normal first, then the hardest difficulty second, then easy third just to have a blast and try to get any achievements I didn't get in my first two playthroughs.

For some games I only do the first playthrough and get bored though.
i didn't feel like retyping this so im just quoting you and writing "this"

Easy Mode ga yurusareru no wa

kyahahahahahaha

Had to do it.. Iosys overdrive lyrics. basically translates to "easy mode? easy mode is for children (laughter)".

It depends on the game, for instance Touhou's easy mode is the equivalent of hard mode. And sometimes in games like Deadspace I like to play again on newgame+ easy mode so that im not such a conservatist prick who only uses the plasma cutter the entire game and sells off anything that doesnt start with the word plasma or med.

The only game I've ever played on easy was Silent Hill 2. The game had an option to turn down the difficulty of the puzzles. I personally don't consider the puzzles in many games to be the best part of the experience so I turned it easy. I kept the combat at normal or hard.

It depends on how the different difficulty levels have been implemented in the game. If harder difficulty level just means that the enemies have more life or that you need to grind more to finish it, then I set it on easy because why the hell would I willingly put myself through that?
Now, if the harder difficulties change the game in any meaningful way, meaning that they make you rely on skill-based mechanics that you wouldn't even notice on easy, or if the difficulty level highlights some integral part of the game (like atmosphere or feeling of dread/danger), then I play them on the highest difficulty possible. Usually developers are lazy and go for option 1 though.

I always play on Hard or Normal. These days, generally Hard.

I only use Easy when achievement/collectible hunting.
I agree with you.
First normal difficulty, then easy difficulty to pick up the achievements that you missed

The only game I played on easy recently was Dragon Age. Oh, and I dont know if it counts, but I play Minecraft on Peaceful so I dont have to bother with all the creeps

I play games for the story, and for playing them. I don't play them to get pissed off at my computer because I keep dying on this one f'ing level over, and over, and over. That kinda ruins the fun.

I usually play on Normal. But when a game ceases to be entertaining because I keep dying, I'll switch down. Just to progress the story. I did this with BioShock, anyway.

When there's a few difficulty settings, I always choose the hardest. When there is tons of 'em, like in the Civilization games, I choose something in the middle.

Always on the hardest. I hate it when game lock the hardest level, if I want to torture myself that's my problem not the game's.

Except some older games... like Thief, god damn that game is insane on anything but easy.
